MABEE ASKS GUARANTEE OF $1000 FROM SANTEL
BOY Mabee, Anaheim's wrestling idol, will meet Ad Santel in a finish match at San Francisco for the world's light-heavyweight wrestling championship for a guarantee of $1000, win, loose or draw, and not one cent less, he stated today in response to Santel's challenge and offer of $500 guarantee or 30 pct. of the profits, made thru The Plain Dealer.
LARRY WILLIAMS & JOE CHANEY MEET AT ARENA FRIDAY
Altho it will not be Friday the 3rd, Manager Billy Darnley of the local fistic emporium says the week-by-boxing card is going to be every bit as good as last week's, which by the way, was just about the best how ever put on at the local arena.
For the main go, Darnley is pitng Joe Chaney fast Whittier boy, against a tough, rough customer inarry Williams from San Francisco. Williams is rated a first class performer up north and judging from his record he will give our Joe a regular battle. Chaney is one of the club's best bets at present. He has never failed to put up a real battle. While not an overly hard-hitter, Joe possesses a stinging punch which makes him respected. Another big factor in the Whittier lad's recent success is the fact that he is always in condition.
A bout that is bound to attract more than usual interest is one between Paddy Dillon of Santa Ana and Babe Orton, the Redlands Indian-boy, billed for the semi-windup. His affair is bound to be a 'dinger from start to finish. Both boys have been after one another for some time and have finally persuaded Darnley to match them up. Orton is taking on the best man of his career in Dillon and he realizes the fact that he is training as tho a championship masst at stake. He is a greatly im-puted boy in his recent startsa nd res to give Paddy a whale of a fight.
Paddy says that if he can't beat he had better quit the game altogether, he's not going to be rushed into a match so important to him, but will demand time in which to get himself in the best possible condition.
"If I go to Frisco to restle Santel I will want $1000 guarantee and not one cent less," says Roy. "I will not wrestle Santel in Frisco on a percentage basis at all."
"If I go to Frisco to wrestle San-win, lose or draw. I can make more than $500 right here in Anaheim. Why should I go to Frisco and take chances where chances are not so good.
Furthermore I am not ready to wrestle Santel at present and I don't want to get excited and rushed into anything like this either when by getting into real condition I might beat Santel for the championship which would mean $50,000 to me this winter.
"I finished irrigating this morning and I am ready to go in to training and keep in condition for this winter. I expect to do considerable wrestling this winter if I don't get crippled. The work in my grove will be practically nothing until February so until then I can have lots of fun in the wrestling game."

CASABA SCHEDULE WILL START NOV. 16
Prof. J. A. Clayes and Miss Irene Jacques, girls coach, attended a meeting called by Prof Hoenschel of the Garden Grove high school, yesterday afternoon to consider the girls basketball schedule outlined at a previous meeting. It was decided to have the principals present at every meeting called by the president of the league.
Fullerton coach objected to the league starting Nov. 16 as Fullerton H.S. opened several weeks later than the others.
Miss Jacques of Anaheim suggested that the team drawing a bye on the opening date change with Fullerton, provided it was satisfactory. Huntington Beach drew the bye and would not forfeit it to Fullerton.
Prof. L. E. Plumner made a motion that the schedule stand as it was without any changes. The motion was adopted.

ASSISTING THE ENGINEER
On the new brakeman's first run there was a very steep grade. The engineer always had trouble to get up this grade, but this time he came near sticking altogether. Eventually, however, he reached the top.
Looking out of the cab he saw the new brakeman and said, with a sigh of relief. "We had a hard job getting up didn't we?"
