CLUB PLANS GIFT. ELDERLY FOLK IN CO. HOSPITAL WITH a large attendance the Cypress-Hansen Community club held the monthly meeting yesterday with Mrs. John Kester and Mrs. C. R. John joint hostesses, at the Kester home. The business meeting was given to discussion of a proposed visit to the permanent members of the Orange County home which will be made about the middle of November. The club is very active in giving pleasure and treats to the elderly persons there, this being the third of the season. It is contemplated to take homemade cookies and cakes as a gift. The first donation was of jellies and jams, the next, of reading matter. Christmas will bring its own good cheer through the club, as is the annual custom. Four visitors, Mrs. Sutherland, Mrs. McBride, Mrs. Shirley and Mrs. Morris, enjoyed the afternoon with the club. Refreshments of ice cream of two varieties and two kinds of cake, with ice tea, were served. An entertainment feature was an impromptu program, with Mrs. Wm. Abplanalp contributing a reading, and Mrs. Dugan, of Long Beach and Mrs. McBride, each with beautiful solos. Members present were the Mesdames Dugan, G. M. Trefren, S. R. Luther, Thos. Walker, Patterson, H. H. Hammond, O. P. Bunyard, Fuquay, W. J. Rennie, Wm. Chandler, Cole, Nordstrom, George Peters, C. F. Huttenlocker and the hostesses. First Sans Souci Meeting Card clubs are resuming action since the summer vacations and it is with renewed energy the players are meeting for a few rounds of the social games on regular days. Yesterday was the first fall meeting for the Sans Souci club, of Fullerton, with Mrs. Julia L. Carpenter as hostess. Four tables were played, and prizes went to Mrs. George Perkins, who won first, Mrs. Bert Dunlap, second, and Mrs. J. L. Haver consolation. Two visitors to the club Mrs. Emmanuel Smith and Mrs. O. Sovinski, were included in the sixteen players, the others being Mrs. Arthur Osburn, Mrs. Lottie Morris, Mrs. Orton, Mrs. Roy Davis, Mrs. John Welch, Mrs. W. L. Wright, Mrs. Ralph Brown, Mrs. Ralph Adams, Mrs. Sid Salveson, Mrs. Ben Douser, and the prize winners, Mrs. Persons, Dunlap and Haver, the hostess completing the number. After games a delicious luncheon was served. A quantity of various kinds of flowers were used to ornament the rooms and lend their cheer and fragrance to the affair. Altar Society Card Club A large group of the members of the Altar society of St. Boniface church met yesterday at the K. of C hall for business and a social session. Among other plans made were those for a card party which will be held at the K. of C hall, Tuesday, Oct 17. This is a public card party and all lovers of five hundred are cordially invited. Whist was enjoyed after the meeting and prize winners were Mrs. C. F. Grim and Mrs. J. Unger. Mrs. F. Heying and Mrs. F. C. Haverty as hostesses served a dainty luncheon in the late afternoon. Plans Dance A masquerade and box social is planned by the members of young peoples society of the Catholic church for Tuesday, Oct. 24. A prize will be awarded for the best costume. All members of the organization are urged to be present. A very large attendance was present at the meeting last evening. A female supper was served late in the evening. Guild Meets Tomorrow The Helper's Guild of the Episcopal church will hold a meeting tomorrow at 2:30 at the Parish Hall. As there are items of interest to come before the meeting, all members are requested to be present. Try Plain Dealer want ads. Duck Dinner Monday Eve. Mr. and Mrs. George Shear and Mrs. Meade Shear were guests Monday evening at a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Abplanalp where a feast was spread of rare delicacies. The host, and hostess had been to Oceanslide on a little trip and brought with them a supply of muscles which made the excellent soup of the first course. Wild duck featured the dinner proper, with all the good thing to complete it. The evening was passed in visiting and music. Spiritualist Meetings Mrs. Anna Puffenburg, of Los Angeles, will hold circles Thursday afternoon and services in the evening at the First Spiritualist church. All are invited. THE annual meeting of the Sunday School Women's Bible class of the Presbyterian church was held yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. F. K. Day. With an attendance of 30, the gathering was a social success. Election of officers was an interesting portion of the business transacted and resulted in the choice of Mrs. A. A. Mills, as president, and Miss Dora Clark, secretary and treasurer. Further business was left in the hands of the executive committee. Refreshments was served near the conclusion of the afternoon. The class was more than pleased at the presence of Mrs. Wm. Wickett, Mrs. John Kelly and Mrs. Kemp, all of whom have been ill for several weeks. Mrs. Oscar Renner, former secretary and treasurer, read the yearly report which was a most satisfactory one. Messages of cheer were sent to Mrs. Emma Duckworth and Mrs. R. N. Fay, both members of the class who are in the Anaheim sanitarium. Members at Bankerettes The Bankeretts were entertained last evening by Miss Evelyn Degrysee. College Girls Play Already social activities are finding their places in Harwood court, Pomona college life, among them recently being week-end parties and informal gatherings. Miss Katherine Lockwood, of San Pedro, was the guest of the Misses Ruth Reed and Margaret Brisca. Plans for the Hallowen season include a big party on the previous weekend. Attending Federated Aid The southern district annual convention of Federated Ladies Aid societies is being held in Los Angeles today. Attending from Anaheim are the Mesdames A. A. Mills, T. H.
