Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1922 THE ORANGE NO LEGION BOND DRIVE IN SOUTH? The American Legion will not conduct much of a campaign for the $10,000 bond issue constitutional amendment in Southern California, in the opinion of former county commander William P. Webb, Jr. who said that the south raised three fourths of the fund for the referendum at the recent state convention, showing that sentiment was strong for the change. Webb is doubtful whether Buron R. Fitts, chairman of the state campaign committee, will come out to Orange County to speak. Local plans to get the vote out and obtain support for the measure have not been formed in detail. G. & L. LEASE G. & L. LEASE, Oct. 10—(SpL.) SIGHTLESS, BUT MAKES GROCERY PAY NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 9—In a prosperous little grocery John Fleming, owner, cheerily waits on customers, gets things from the shelves, weighs sugar and other commodities, and performs all the duties of a grocer. Fleming has been blinding them. He knows exactly where everything is and can move around on his job as rapidly as could one who sees. Not on any litchi, but Fleming can recognize his customers by their footsteps and always has a cheery word for them as they enter the shop. Up to the time he was 30, Fleming was steward at an athletic club. Here, on a night in 1852, he was opening a bottle of champagne. It exploded and blinded him. Undiscouraged, Fleming devoted himself to the grocery and has made good. Floors Laid, Scraped and Finished Machine Sanders Local Mgr. R. J. Ohlund 610 E.
