ANNOUNCE LINEUPS FOR SAT. GAMES
SATURDAY will mark a big day for Anaheim high school's blue and gold eleven. The first football game of the season will be played here with Long Beach.
Anaheim is handicapped by heavy graduation last June and also by lack of weight. The team average is only a little more than 140 lbs. However, Anaheim's gridiron warriors are fast. They are alert and active every minute and will put up a good show.
The Orange League starts Oct. 7, with Anaheim playing against Tustin on the home grounds. The game with Long Beach tomorrow will be valuable training and is the only game to be played before the regular season opens. The other teams of the county are considerably heavier than Coach Elliott's men.
The affair tomorrow will be a doubleheader. Lightweight teams play at 1:30. The lightweight team has an excellent chance for the championship this year. They are experienced men and put on a good show.
Anaheim will go up against such men as Drury tomorrow.
This star, who is captain of the beach team, has an enviable record. He was an end man on the All-Southern California team last fall. Price, center and Tandy, tackle, are also first class men, and with the other experienced players, Anaheim will get some good practice and training.
The line-up of the first teams are as follows:
Anaheim—Rees and Mulvey, ends; Feetham and Wallace, tackles; Ingram and Gutosky, guards; A. Hile (Capt.), center; Ross, quarter; Fergus and Woods, halfs; Mann, full.
Long Beach—Drury and Wilson, ends; Wallace and Tandy, tackles; Lew and Anderson, guards; Price, center; Watson, quarter; Al Hill and John Hill, halfs; Berring full.

CALIFORNIA TURNS OUT TENNIS CHAMPS
By Sargum Sprout
There must be something in the sunshine of California that helps to produce great tennis players. May Sutton Bundy, the greatest woman player that ever lived, is the daughter of our great state. Little Mary Brown, one time the world's best, is another Californian. Now comes another gerat star in the making. Hellen Wills is already a star but a couple more years added to her 16 will see her one of the greatest, if not the great, that ever lived.
May Bundy was the greatest for she held the championship longer than any other woman and while she was defending her title she played some of the best tennis players the world has ever produced. She was not temperamental, she never played like a "poor fish." She never had heart trouble. When she stepped on the court she body had to play tennis and there were no excuses.
Little Mary Brown was the same sort of champ, but she did not keep the world's honors long.
This 16-year-old California lasse
IMAN AND KELLY READY FOR BATTLE
'Big Jack' Iman and Tom Kelly report themselves fit and ready for there return fracas at the Athletic Clubs Arcade tonight. Both boys wound up a busy week of training yesterday and from reports emanating from their training camps should put up the battle of these lives. Iman is out to redeem himself for his defeat at the hands of Kelly last week over at Delhi and has trained faithfully for tonight's setto. Kelly is not worrying any over the outcome as he figures he beat the Santa Ana boy before and should do so again. Much interest has been stirred up over the match as it will go far to see whether Iman has really gone back or his defeat at the hands and admirers will, no doubt, be out in full force tonight to root for him in the hopes of him coming thru with a win. It promises to be a real battle from start to finish and play to a record breaking crowd.
There has been a switch made in the semi-windup that was to bring Hank Gatten of Santa Ana and Jimmy Murphy of San Francisco together but as the Santa Ana boy contracted the "Barbera Itch" last Sunday and while it was hoped that it would heal up sufficiently to permit him to go thru with his date with Murphy, it has not done so and so Matchmaker Billy Darnley has put that classy welter, Jack Lowery on against Young Vasquez of Santa Ana. Vasquez is rated a good boy and he will be a worthy opponent for Lowery. Lowery has been keeping in good trim by frequent workouts and is in good shape to give the Santa Ana boy a tough time of it. Vasquez has been working out with Iman over at Delhi and he too reports himself in the best of condition. It looks like it would be a sweet battle every bit as good if not more than the aGtten-Murphy affair would have been.
In the preliminaries, Young Montaya, the Placentia whirlwind will tackle clever Tommy Nichols of Los Angeles and there should be plenty far fly here in this bout. Two hard-biting boys are Bud Baker and Young Terry who will clash at 142 pounds. Each boy packs a K. O. punch in either hand and some one is going to drop here. Terry put over the crusher on Bud the last time the two met but Baker expects to reverse matters tonight. Johnny Nandes of local fame and Danny Herrera of Santa Ana will raise the curtain.
May Bundy was the greatest for she held the championship longer than any other woman and while she was defending her title she played some of the best tennis players the world has ever produced. She was not temperamental, she never played like a "poor fish." She never had heart trouble. When she stepped on the court she me body had to play tennis and there were no excuses.
Little Mary Brown was the same sort of champ, but she did not keep the world's honors long.
This 16-year-old California lace worked herself thru five important tournaments to the finals and each time Molla Mallory, the great Molla who played like a "poor fish" in the world's title match with the French star, had to extend herself to the utmost to turn the school girl back.
Two more years and this school girl marvel will make the Marvelous Molla look like a "poor fish" and will give the foreign players heart failure.
Rah, rah, California! There is no other section on this little old globe turning out so many world beaters as is California.
DUCK SEASON OPENS SUNDAY
Many Anaheimers and residents of neighboring cities of the county are preparing to go duck shooting Sunday, when the season opens. The actual hour of opening is 5:18 a.m.
tain at 122 pounds. They should start the fireworks off right for both youngsters are willing performers. Lloyd Neal will be the third man in the ring—Billy Darnley will tell 'em who's who and Big Bud McAlvay will send them on their way at 8:30 o'clock. Let's go.
