WIN 10 TO 7 FROM HUNTINGTON BEACH
Keeping up their good reputation of winning baseball games last year, the boys of the Junior High school started off with a bang last evening, by returning from Huntington Beach with the big end of a 10 to 7 score. To say the game was exciting is putting it mildly. At the end of the 9th inning, the score stood 7 to 7 after two innings, the score failed to show any change. In the first half of the 12th, the locals scored three runs, making the score then read, 10 to 7. The beach lads tried to better their mark but failed, as they were put out before reaching first base. Credit goes to Zeus Ochea for his star pitching and batting qualities. Ray Pomeroy and Vernon Rockwell, fielders did not let the pill get by them. Gerome Giss, the team's champ catcher, knocked a homer and a three-bagger. There were several disputes over foul balls but these were quickly and quietly settled by the congenial bunch of Anaheimers. W. C. Maxwell accompanied the boys to the beach diamond.
The following local boys played:
Pomeroy, if; Rockwell, cf.; Lenail, rf; Coeffman, 2b; Mitchell, 1b; Ochea, p; Grueneman, ss; Giss, c; Ramos, 3b.
The Anaheim lads will meet Tustin on the local diamond Oct. 5.
The boys of the team this year were members of the third team last year with the exception of Ray Pomeroy. The boys are light but fast.

HAYDEN BACK FROM UTILITIES MEETING
J. C. Hayden, district superintendent of the So. Co. Gas Co., Orange co., has returned from the 29th annual convention of the Pacific Coast Gas Ass'n at Santa Barbara.
The local company, according to Hayden, had the largest representation at the convention of any Pacific Coast gas utility.
Frank S. Wade superintendent of operation of the local company, vice-president of the Pacific Coast Gas Ass'n and leading figures in the activities of the gas fraternity in the far west, was unanimously elected president of the organization for 1923. Two other So. Co. men were given positions. M. R. Thompson, engineer, was made chairman of the wrinkle committee, and Clyde H. Potter, advertising man, was made chairman of the publicity committee.
Two important representations were passed, one condemning the proposed water and power act as extremely dangerous legislation; and, a second, expressing sympathy for the mine sufferers and for the city of Jackson, California.
Following his stay of four days at the gas convention, Hayden went to Berkeley where he attended the state convention of Rotary presidents. Hayden is president of the Santa Ana Rotary club.

URGE MORE ACTION AGAINST BLIND PIGS
The Federal Prohibition in Los Angeles has been called upon by Superintendent S. M. Montgomery of the State Anti-Saloon League to start a more active prosecution of bootlegging in Orange county, following the big raid made by Federal agents at Seal Beach and Sunset Beach in conjunction with Sheriff C. E. Jackson and intimations on the part of county authorities that bootlegging operations on a considerable scale still were in progress.
This was revealed today at the office of the Prohibition Commissioner in Los Angeles. Asked what the office intended to do, officials replied that the available forces were so small that it was almost impossible to cope with the law-breakers.
Frank Hegley, former brewmaster and owner of the record size still found in his barn in the recent raid, is out on $2000 ball and, owing to pressure of work in the office of U.S. District Attorney Joe Burke, and U.S. District Court, may not be brought up for trial for months yet. Jones and Sullivan, proprietors of the lunchroom found selling booze, and Postmaster G. M. Gleason of Sunset Beach, also may not be tried for a long time yet.
The police reports were filed at the time, but the federal informations have not yet been filed.
The W. C. T. U. and other organizations of Orange County also have written complaints of activities of bootleggers, it was learned.
