OFFER CIVIC CLUB SITE FOR BUILDING
GARDEN GROVE Sept. 22—(Spl). The civic club has been offered a site for their proposed club house lB a 40-acre subdivision west of town which will soon be placed on the market, formerly the B. O. Ful-som property.
The site offered the club faces on Ocean avenue, and consists of two of the choicest lots in the entire tract, 100x135 feet.
Subdividers are F. H. Felberg, P. N. Larson, C. A. Emerson, G. E. Mansperger and H. A. Lake.
This tract will be laid out with cement walks, curbs, ornamental trees gas, electricity and city water.
A nine-pound girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Reed of Lake Port, Tuesday, Sept. 12th. Mrs. Reed is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Crutchfield of this place.
Miss Ruth Violett went to Redlands Monday to enter university.
Mr. and Mrs. A. B. McMahan have returned from a three month's visit with relatives and friends at Hyannis, Nebr.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliott who have been spending the summer at the home of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Elliott, left Friday for Palo Alto where Mr. Elliott will resume his studies at Stanford Univ.
E. M. Dozler and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Bodenhamer and H. A. Bodenhamer and family attended the 30th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Stanley at Bellflower Sunday.
Mrs. R. W. Elliott, accompanied by her niece, Mrs.' Ohas, Ward of Huntington Beach, returned Monday from a few days' spent at Catalina.
E. O. Ful-som has been on the sick list the last few days.
Rev. W. M. Harkness and family and Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wight were dinner guests of Mrs. C. B. Crosby Thursday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas, VanGerichten, Mrs. Emma Marquitz and daughter Stella from St. Louis, Mo.; Dr. and Mrs. John Munschow and Clarence Munschow of Los Angeles were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Doepke, Sunday.
The big pumpkin on display at the Garden Grove pool hall was opened Saturday evening, and the seeds counted, there being 476 seeds. The prize for the closest guess, a box of cigars was won by Rogers and PLACENTIA. Sept.

The state supreme court has decided that the Motor Transit Co. must cease carrying passengers between Anaheim and Santa Ana and pay an estimated $10,000 collected in local fares to the Crown Stage Co., which proved that it had a right prior to that of the other concern to operate between the two cities.

STROUF FURNITURE
PLACENTIA, Sept. 22.—(Spl.) J. P. O'Brien has sold another ten acres of his ranch to Lewis Nipen of Long Beach and will give possession early in October when the Mysens will make their home here. The ten acres bearing valencias includes the home and all buildings, and is west of the ten acres recently purchased by Louis Jacobsen.
Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien and daughter Ada will move to Jacaranda Place Fullerton, where they have purchased a home. Their many friends will be sorry to have them leave here, but no doubt they will often spend the day here as they still own thirty acres of valencias on Kraemer avenue. They have lived on the ranch ten years last June.
The Better Mother's Club held an all day meeting at the home of Mrs. Heffern on Thursday. A most delicious pot-luck dinner was enjoyed at noon, following which was a short business meeting and social hour.
The total enrollment of the grammar school, which opened Monday, was 509, a considerable increase over last year when the enrollment was around 450. The attendance is increasing a little every day, but Professor Riddlebarger expects that all the scholars will be enrolled by the end of this week.
WAR IN NEAR EAST BOOSTS FIG SALES
FRESNO, Cal., Sept. 22. California raises and figs are demanded in increasing quantity daily throughout the world as a result of the war in Asia Minor. It was reported here today. The famous Smyrna crops are being destroyed by the struggling armies.
The teachers are getting located permanently and on Monday Miss Hardman and Mrs. Gertrude Isbell were transferred from the 7th grade to the 5th and 7th grades. No other changes have been made. The kindergarten bus gathers the little tots at 8:45 a.m. at the depot and club house corner and at noon they are again delivered there.
Teddy McKeehan, nine-year-old son of Walter McKeehan, North Main street, had the misfortune to have his thigh broken Tuesday morning about 7:30 when he fell from his bicycle. Teddy was riding along the street about two doors south of his home as Mrs. Richardson of Olinda, was passing, the fender and the bicycle touched and Teddy fell to the ground. No blame has been attached to anyone, the bicycle shows no scratches and both Mrs. Richardson and Teddy say the car was going slowly and only the fender touched the boy. Dr. Petty was called and the little chap is getting along nicely now.

Clegg of Hebron Utah announces the marriage of their daughter Miss Ruth Clegg to Mr. George Wimer of Long Beach, California on Sept. 6, 1922 at the Morman Temple of that place. After the ceremony the bridal party went to the Utah Hotel where a elaborate wedding supper was served. The bride and groom left immediately on their honeymoon at Bear Lake and Utah Hotel, Utah. The bride worked as bookkeeper at the La Habra Citrus Association at La Habra and made her home with her sister, Mrs. Bill Pope of this lease, while the groom is the brother of Mrs. B. F. McElhany. Mr. and Mrs. Wimer returned to Long Beach where they will live at 1072 Hellman street as Mr. Wimer works in the oil fields at that place. The bride is well known in La Habra and Santa Ana and has many friends who wishes her a happy wedded life.

Tuesday afternoon. The home was beautifully decorated. The honoree was taken to the home of Mrs. Graham of La Habra and when she returned she found a houseful of friends welcoming her. A very enjoyable time was enjoyed by all.

Hernande Delosereyes who escaped from the hospital at Norwalk was picked up by the Fullerton police, and returned to the hospital authorities.
