K. OF C’s. ORGANIZE TWO SCOUT TROOPS Anaheim council, Knights of Columbus, this week is completing the organization of two new troops, which will include the boys of the Catholic Orphanage and many others. Mr. T. F. Shea, who has for the past year been actively connected with the Fremont School troop, will act as Scoutmaster for one of the new troops, while Paul Neja of Nenno & Bock will have charge of the other troop. Much interest is being shown by the troops all over the county in preparing exhibits for the Scout Rodeo which will be Scouting's part in the Orange County Fair. Scouts, scoutmasters, and troop committeemen are all planning attractive and instructive Scout exhibits. When Troop No. 42 of Los Angeles were stranded by motor trouble upon returning from a week-end camp at Balboa Pallisades, Scoutmasters Clyde E. Ritter and John E. McKim, both residents of Buena Park, volunteered their machines. THEATRES Mary Miles Minter is seen today at the California in "Tillie," a Paramount success. Too heavy an oil, or one lacking in certain qualities, acts as a brake on the car. The ideal oil is the thinnest oil which will keep the bearing parts separated, and at the same time offer in itself the least frictional resistance to the engine power going to the driving wheels. This oil, providing it has "oiliness," stability and purity, will give perfect lubrication and permit the development of the maximum power, speed and gasoline mileage of the car. Zerolene fills all these requirements perfectly. The Ideal Oil All bearing clearances decrease under the heat of operation. Analysis of Zerolene shows that the differences in its body at the various engine temperatures, from cold to operating temperature, follow in close relation the decrease in bearing clearances. For this reason Zerolene oils have at all operating temperatures exactly the required body to splash and flow freely into the fast-moving, small-clearance bearings to provide an adequate film of lubricant. Because of this and its "oiliness," stability and purity, Zerolene gives perfect lubrication under all conditions of engine operation, and permits the development of the maximum power, speed and gasoline mileage of the car. Board of Rubrication Engineers STANDARD OIL COMPANY (California) more power & speed ~ less friction and wear ~ thru Correct Lubrication SANTA FE GREAT LIGHT OIL FIELD With Oil Operators Santa Fe Springs has become the greatest field in the west for light oil production. The daily output of this new and famous field is 40,000 barrels, and the gravity is running from 28 to as high as 32. A well at Santa Fe Springs means something with the present price of crude. Wells come in not less than 2000 barrels, and many of them go over 3000. Dollar oil is not uncommon in the Springs field. Producers at Santa Fe will yield more on the investment than any field in the state at the E. J. Miley started the week's big producers with a 2400 barrel well on the Pacific Petroleum Wardman Eagle property. Eagle No. 1 completed at 5810 feet is producing $2.5 gravity oil. The Ferdon-Verpilat Co-operative Oil Syndicate is scheduled to become the next Santa Fe Springs producing company. It is the intention to stop drilling at 3900 feet and put the well on production. A successful water shut off at 3684 in 8½ greatly facilitated the rapid progress the well has made. Drilling on Hamilton No. 4 has passed the 4700 foot mark without getting any very promising showings. It is the intention to proceed with the drilling until something is found. The hole is still 15½ and can be carried to 6000 feet unless mechanical trouble should develop. The drilling is being done by the McKen Drilling Co., and marks a new era in rotary work. The putting of a 1½ inch hole down 4700 feet is an accomplishment worthy of notice and commendation. Humor has it that a showing at 2500 to 3600 feet was passed up. The Standard Oil Co., is about to start a second deep well drilling on the Brownrigg-Kollar property. No. REFORMER APPROVES 'CHAW 'ER TOBACCER' HAMMOND, La.—Mrs. Thomas Forrest, reformer, is on the war-path again, seeking the scalps of some undeserving citizen who deal in cigarettes and other kindred evils. As a prominent W. C. T. U. member she threw a fright into Hammond business men last year when she undertook to agitate against the sale of cigarettes to minors. The W. C. T. U. backed her—for a time, Somehow or other, though, just at it seemed as if she were to see victory, the Union withdrew its support. Mrs. Forrest was defeated and, it is whispered, sale of cigarettes to minors continued. Mrs. Forrest learned her lesson. This year she has made a concession for the sake of the men. She continues to be opposed to cigarettes cornbone pipes, white mule and boot-leggers. But—she says it's all right for men to take a "chaw" of tobacco three times a day. Down there they say her idea is clever. WON'T PROSECUTE SWITZER I. L. Everitt of La Habra will not prosecute C. A. Switzer, whom he accused of passing worthless checks, one for $25.45, following the payment by Switzer of amounts alleged due. Payment of the sums was made today in Santa Ana. The checks were passed on April 29, 1920. Japan is one of the important sources of the world's coal supply. One of the noted wells of the field at 4762 continues to produce 450 barrels of 35 gravity oil. A second well even if it does have to go close to 4800 feet will son pay out producing 35 gravity oil. At 8510 the Whittier-Santa Fe Springs Syndicate brought in a 2500 barrel well. This new producer soon developed sand and the production was cut down to 1600 barrels. REALTORS MATURING CONVENTION PLANS Plans for the 18th Annual Convention of the California Real Estate Asso. at Santa Ana, Dec. 6, 7, 8, and 9, are maturing steadily, according to President C. C. Tatum of the State Association. Among the conferences planned will be board methods, multiple listing, real estate financing, knowing the soil, standard forms, country lands and colonization, home building and the realtor; the state magazine, renting and leasing, appraisals and salesmanship. The Orange-co. Realty Boards—Santa Ana, Anaheim, Fullerton and Orange—are cooperating on the big program. One of the features of the Convention will be a luncheon at Anaheim with the Anaheim Realtors as hosts. Then there will be an afternoon of dancing, boating and sightseeing at Balboa, Newport and Laguna Beaches. The Calif. Asso., of Realtors Secretaries, of which Leslie E., Burks is president, will hold its session at two breakfast conferences at St. Ann's Inn. John Wallace, general chairman of the convention, is at work on the big program. Financial support has been given to the committee by the Santa Ana city council, the Orange-co. Supervisors, and by local business interests. Plans are being made on a scale never before made for a real estate convention. Many boards are entering their speakers for the Home Town Conference to win the silver loving cup offered by Fred E. Reed of Oakland. The Monterey Peninsula Real Estate Board, winner of the attendance prize at the Oakland Convention has served notice on President Freeman H. Bloodgood of the Santa Ana Board and its members, led by President Benjamin F. Wright and Secretary Jack Beaumont, expect to come 100 percent strong again this year. The Sacramento Realtors Association, Will C. Wright, president, has begun its plans for inviting the convention in 1923. hole down 4760 feet is an accomplishment worthy of notice and commendation.
