ALL EYES CENTER ON MABEE-SANTEL MEET
Now that the date and place of the Mabee-Santel wrestling match is settled upon there is nothing to do but sit back and watch the big fellows prepare for their battle. Roy has his brother Jack, Vic Baden, Ben Danker and several other huskies to train with. The Elks gym will be the science of some interesting work outs when Roy gets to tassing the big boys about.
The 19th will soon be here. There is considerable work to be done to the arena. At present the seating capacity is about 500. By building seats across the corners with the exception of the entrance there will be added accommodations for from 300 to 400. The mat will be in plain view from every seat, which is a great advantage over the theatres. The only disadvantage of the arena is that it has no roof and a shower would cause Roy to loose money, but it is a little early for rain, so we feel pretty safe in expecting a perfect evening and a record crowd.
Our Elk ball athletes, who won the Southern Calif. championship at Vernon Sunday when they defeated the Pasadena Elks for the second time, have been playing a great game all season. The team is well balanced and has no weak spots.
The second base combination has had much to do with the success of the team. The veteran Jack Pendleton at short has played great ball and has had a steadying effect on his young sidekick, D. Bush, at second.
The pitching staff is all that any team could wish and Captain Buster is a whole catching staff.
All the other stations are well taken care of and there is a flock of reserve strength on the bench ready to step in and fill any gaps that might happen by injuries to the regulars.
It is pretty safe to predict that Anaheim will be returned State Champions again.

DUDLEY BOXES IN FRISCO WED. NIGHT
Young Dudley, local colored boxer and one of the main stays of the Anaheim Athletic Club, is now boxing for the northern clubs in and around San Francisco. He gets his first chance to appear before the Bay City fans to morrow evening when he boxes Chick Roach in the main event of the Dreamland Athletic Club. Dudley ought to go over big while up north for he is a pleasing performer, always in the best of condition and never failing to give the best that's in him. For his first start up north he is mighty fortunate in catching on so quickly and in particular he can be considered very lucky in securing a main event.
Class, it appears, is always recognized by the up-to-date clubs. His many friends and admirers hereabouts wish the boy the best of luck.

100 BIG CARS HAUL RINGLING'S CIRCUS
Loaded on 100 cars all double length, the world's greatest circus is coming to Santa Ana, Saturday, Sept. 16th and boys and girl of all ages, size and condition are getting ready to greet the marvels it will bring.
Were those who gather to watch the invasion of this great new circus to take a census of the mammoth caravan they would, according to officials, make a list similar to the following: 1571 people, 785 horses, 28 camels, 1009 caged animals, six giraffes, herds of ostriches and zebras, two-thirds of all the elephants in America, to say nothing of Tiny Toddlies the baby hippopotamus, and his giant parents.
The first train to arrive Saturday will be that bringing the commissary department and the menagerie animals. The troupes of performing animals and the elephant herds journey on still another train. The first tent to be pitched will be th ecook house so that the people of the circus town may breakfast as fast as they arrive. The second and third trains will bring hundreds of heavy wagons loaded with canvas, properties and the paraphernalla used in connection with the circus acts and arena displays.

ENDS QUARREL BY CERTAIN METHOD
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 12 — Passengers who saw a middle-aged man leap from the rail of a ferry boat to his death reported he had quarreled with a woman a few minutes before.
China's area is 3,913,560 square miles.
Owing to the increased size of this season's circus and the longer time required to make ready for the performances, no street parade is given anywhere.
There are more than 700 performers with the circus and fully half that number of trained animals. Two hundred superbly schooled horses representing Europe's finest eques-trian acts form a big new feature. Another includes 20 high school horses ridden by riders of international fame.
The wild animal acts include jungle beasts who ride upon swiftly running horses, juggle like humans, perform tricks of balancing or play at games with their keepers. The arenas are time after time filled, emptied and refilled with entire troupes of tigers, lions, polar bears, leopards, panthers jaguars and trained pumas. Most remarkable among these are the mixed groups of tigers, black panthers and leopards presented by the world's foremost women trainers, Mabel Stark and Olga Celeste. Women trainers are to the fore this season. One of the six herds of trained elephants is in charge of the noted Belgian breaker, Mme. Clare Hildegarde.
Comedy acts are offered in prodigious number. There are Pallenberg's bears that walk upon tight ropes or ride old fashioned bicycles; shaggy white brains that "shoot the chutes"; Huling's famous troupes of acting seals; Loyal's wonderful French poodles including the whir-l-gig dogs; and no aid of trick monkeys, donkeys, Shetlands, pigs, goats, geese and pigeons.
At the present rate of increase the world's population will reach 4 billion in 2014.

CELEBRATE 50TH YEAR TOGETHER
LA HABRA, Sept. 12. (Spl.) Marking the half-century mile stone of their married life, Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Stambaugh, former Santa Ana residents entertained informally for friends and relatives Sunday at their home in La Habra. The home was beautifully decorated in flowers of golden hues and ferns. At noon an anniversarry feast of chicken and all the rest fitting to a Golden Wedding event was served to the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of the honored couple. Around the table were three sons, thirteen grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. The sons are F. S. Stambaugh and B. H. Stambaugh of Long Beach and W. D. Stambaugh of La Habra. In the afternoon friends from Santa Ana, Fullerton and La Habra called to extend congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Stambaugh. This bride and groom of fifty years were wed in Lisbon, Iowa. She was Miss Delia Harvey before her marriage. They came to California in 1887 and settled in Santa Ana where they resided until five years ago when they moved to their present home in La Habra.
