FAST SEMI-WINDUP FOR FRIDAY NIGHT
BY BORGUM SPROUT.
In support of the big main event Friday will be a bout that will be almost as good a drawing card. The semi-windup is going to be chuck full of pepper. Just turn Johnny McGraw loose in the ring with a pair of gloves on and if there is any one in sight there will be a fight on tap. His opponent, Jack Burman, fought here a few weeks ago, but was unforunate in drawing Joe Chaney and any one drawing the Whittler flash is in for a very rough time.
Burmaa displayed a lot of class, but this Chaney lad is going great guns just now, and Burman was up against a hard proposition. He should show up good with McGraw, but will have to travel all the way. McGraw is a two-fisted fighter who doesn't know how to back up. Texas jack will have to fight all the way, for if he ever lets up Johnny will be right there to take advantage of it. Johnny is a real fighter and will not dance about for an opening, but will go in and make one.
Johnny deserves to be placed next to the top position on the card. His last two appearances in the local ring have been thrillers. In Burman he meets a man of class. This is going to be some little fracas.
The preliminaries also look out of the ordinary. Young Terry from Whittier, a hard hitter, will try out his heavy artillery against that other heavy gunner, Bud Baker, who hails from Orange. These boys are both well known here and are favorites with the fans for their willing methods while in the ring.
That fast little piece of fighting machinery, young Montoga from over Placentia way, asked for a real tough opponent and was obliged in the person of Petey Wagner, a rough, tough little gent from the City of the Angels. Montoga is being groomed for a meeting with Kid Louie at no late date. The way he has been going he is about ready to give the Kid a real battle.
If Montoya ever meets Loule, the Kid will have to fight. Loule showed us a lot of dancing last Friday exe-

Y. M. C. A. BOYS WIN SWIMMING HONORS
Anaheim members of the Y. H. C. A. who took part in the Y. M. water contest at Fullerton returned home with several honors. Robert Jensen, 13, won first place in the 50 yard dash for boys 13 or under. James Fitzgibbons, also a local boy, carried off honors. Young Jensen also came in first in the 50-yd. dash for youngsters over 13. In the 100-yd. dash, the talented Jensen youngster carried off the honors. This was a free for all for those under 16.
The local Y. M. C. A. under the supervision of P. V. Richardson is planning to stage such contests in the plunge at the Y. M. C. A. grounds in the near future.
A large number of local boys participated in the contests yesterday.

CYPRESS, Aug. 31.(Spl.)—The home of H. Penhall was entered some time Sunday evening and thoroughly searched. About $25 in cash was taken, nothing less has been missed so far. Mrs. Penhall accompanied her husband to Los Angeles Sunday evening on his milk run and when they returned they found the house in confusion; the house had been systematically gone over and things left topsy-turvey. There were no clews left by the intruders.
Albert Young and Miss Foster, of Artesia, were married at the bride's home Friday at 10 o'clock. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Foster, old and well known residents of the Artesia section. The bride is very popular in Artesia social circles and is a gifted musician.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Young of W. Cypress and has resided here for the last ten years. He has been connected with the So. Cal. Dairy Producers' Assn.' for the past year and now holds a responsible position with that concern.
The young couple left immediately after the wedding ceremony for a short wedding tour to San Diego, after which they will be at home to their many friends at their new bungalow home in Artesia.
Jack Barnet was the victim of a painful accident Sunday while swimming in a cement reservoir. Jack did a high dive and struck bottom and a scalp wound resulted which took several stitches to sew up.
The Cypress beet dump opened yesterday, A. R. Bradley is in charge. The tonnage to pass over the dump this season will be very light, as the acreage in this section is very short.
The finishing touches are being put on the new school house so that it will be in readiness for the opening of school Sept. 11. It is a wonderful little building and was the source of much admiration on the part of those attending the polls yesterday.

"DOLLARS AT FIFTY CENTS" would be a buy comparable with the Escondido bearing vineyards that we offer at $350.00 per acre. We are advised that his season's crop of these 8-year Muscats was contracted for at close to the above figure. At the same rate next year's crop should nearly pay for the acreage. Escondido has a superb climate and is an ideal home location in every respect. San Diego-co. is forging to the front due to extensive development of its water resources.
