Seamans was a pretty setting for a large number of friends of Miss Marie Vernon, who gathered there for the purpose of giving her an aluminum shower. A short program was rendered, after which Miss Vernon was presented with a complete set of five aluminum pieces for the culinary department of the new home. The hostess, assisted by Mrs. R. Shook then served dainty refreshments. About 50 were present. Miss Vernon will wed Mr. Warrick Murray on the 30th day of this month. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Holland and two children of Santa Monica arrived Wednesday to take charge of the "Rock Bottom Store." Mr. Holland succeeds Mr. Tyler, who with Mrs. Tyler are moving to Santa Ana where they have purchased a store. Mr. and Mrs. Holland are well known here, having resided here a number of years. Mrs. Moode and daughter of Los Angels are staying at the Longstreet home while they are gone. Mrs. L. L. Lyman and children who have been at Hemet working in the fruit returned to their home Wednesday night. Mrs. M. R. Scribner entertained her cousin Mrs. Annie Busey of Pasadena last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Van Patten entertained Mrs. Meca and two daughters of Anaheim, Thursday.
