LOCAL MEN FINED FOR TOO MUCH SPEED
S. R. Walter of the Anaheim Vulcanizing Works on So. Los Angeles st., was arrested today on a warrant from the local city recorder's court, charging him with failure to appear to answer charges of having gone 35 miles an hour. The arrest was made by O. Mr. Walter stated that the charge had been dismissed by the motorcycle officer, but Judge Brown stated that there was no record of the affair, and that this was not within the jurisdiction of that officer. He stated that in the future he would assess no one less than $25 who has to be brot in by a warrant, but that because of the misunderstanding which had arisen he would fine Mr. Walter but $5. Mr. Walter protested the fine, but without avail.

ADVERTISING MAN WAGERS SODA CLERK
Everett Watt, proprietor of the fountain and lunch counter of Gibson's Drug Store has entered into a lively discussion with the advertising manager of the Plain Dealer and has placed a wager to back his opinion regarding the merits of advertising.
He has bet a bait of candy that he could offer a coupon soda book containing twenty-five-cent coupons or a total value of $1.00 for the special price of 69c which would be good in trade for anything at the soda fountain and that a display advertisement would not result in bringing over 50 inquiries.
Now the advertising manager knows Mr. Watt is absolutely wrong and quotes an instance where a certain advertiser using a small three line classified ad received 20 replies while not a single answer was checked from another Anaheim publication.
So take advantage of this special sale Friday and Saturday and help the advertising manager score.
