for the affair was the 79th birthday
anniversary of the honoree.
Covers were laid for sixteen, Including children, grand children and
great grandchildren.
Mr. Kohler is hale and hearty and
works every day at his trade as a carpenter. This is the first family reunion in two years, the mother having passed away two years ago.

SUNFLOWER GIRLS ARE IN LOVE WITH SUNNY SOUTHLAND
MRS. J. JANSS and Miss Freida Janas drew together a company of Nebraskans at their home Saturday afternoon in compliment to three young ladies from the Sunflower state, who are touring the west, particularly California. Miss Margaret Lederman, sister of Mrs. Clyde Webb, will remain here for the summer and her companions, the Misses Sabine Ivers and Lena Velt will return to Los Angeles in a few days to sightsee for a month.
The visitors are from Grand Island, Neb., and all the guests, as well as the hostesses, also have resided there. Of course the conversation was entirely concerning the old home folks, old times and a general review of doings in Grand Island. Besides the honorees, there were present Mrs. Lillie Gerspacher, of Los Angeles, Mrs. Clyde Webb, Anaheim; Mrs. Augusta Egee and daughter, Miss Margaret Egee, of Santa Ana; the Misses Carrie Lauber, Flora Lauber, and Elizabeth Calnon and Mrs. A.H. Koenig.
The young ladies are delighted with California and the west and plan to enjoy every moment while they are here.
Dr. and Mrs. Janss and Miss Janss entertained at dinner yesterday the Misses Ivers and Velt, also Mrs. Gerspacher and Mrs. Koenig.

Lone Man Attends Church
Anaheim has at least one brave man, whose bravery is proof of his faithfulness, and his faithfulness is proof of his bravery. That man is Mr. Will Hunt, who was the only man in the congregation at the Christian church. Members of the Myers' Men's Bible class were invited to Long Beach to visit the Taubman, Men's class, but it was hardly anticipated that every man in the entire church would attend, except one. Apparently that was the case.
But Mr. Hunt enjoyed the service and he confidentially told some of his friends that he enjoyed his feminine company, too.
The evening sermon was preached by Prof. A.F. Bennett, of the Eugene (Ore.) Bible School. His address was excellent and his large congregation expressed its appreciation.
A large number of the members of the church attended the closing services of the annual conference held last week in Long Beach in the Christian church.
Pastor on Vacation
Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Gelssinger are at their beach home, Balboa Island, for the coming month, as the pastor will enjoy a vacation period for that length of time. A committee composed of Charles Eygabroad, G. M. Tedrick and W. M. Wellman will secure interesting speakers for each Sunday during August.
Dr. Rasmus will occupy the pulpit next Sunday morning, and Rev. Harry Branton, pastor of the M.E. church at Elsinore, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Allen, will be the preacher in the evening.
All evening congregational services will be held at 7:30 the remainder of the summer. Leagues and class meetings at the usual hour.
Calvary Baptist Goes Ahead
A large attendance at Calvary Baptist church, which is using I.O.O.P. hall for temporary quarters, was an inspiration to Rev. H.F. Forkett, who preached the sermon. Special music by H.H.Knox and R.J.Ohlund in a duet, was much appreciated. In the evening a quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs.Ohlund, Mrs.W.M.Bartlett and H.H.Knox, sang a number.G.B.Harding, of Ontario was present at the service.
Finances are looking fine for the new church, the running expenses now being "over the top." An evangelistic campaign is an event of the near future, and arrangements to make it a thoroughly successful one are in the making.

ONLY TWO PACKING HOUSES OPENING
Two of the local orange packers houses started off the week today packing oranges. All the local houses report good prices and a good market.
The Randolph Marketing Co., and the Anaheim Co-operative Orange houses opened today, and expo-packing all week. The Anaheim Orange and Lemon Ass'n expects to begin packing again the latter part of the week and the Anaheim Citrus Fruit Ass'n plans to open again Thursday.
All the packing houses report that they probably will continue packing for about a couple of months.
Curtailment in shipments on the part of the two California Fruit Growers' Exchange members is due to instructions from the directors at their last meeting. With the eastern market congested with deciduous fruits, berries and watermelons and cantaloupes, and the remaining supply of Valencias being rapidly depleted, the directors decided to go slow.

"Rush Hours"
In all lines of business patronage is irregular. Street cars, stores, banks and restaurants have their "rush hours" when some delays in service are unavoidable. The public, with the situation before its eyes, good naturedly accepts a degree of inconvenience.
There are "rush hours" in a telephone exchange. With business service the "loads" of telephone traffic are determined by commercial activities, banking hours, etc.—the "load" of the residence telephone varies with household and social needs.
The demands upon the telephone operator and a complicated mechanical equipment cannot be seen, but telephone traffic varies in every hour of every day according to the individual desires of thousands of patrons.
If there should be at times a delay in answering your call, remember that trained young women with nimble fingers are doing their best to serve you, and that at the moment there may be a "rush" of telephone traffic.
The exercise of patience and consideration will mean better service.
