MATLOCK AWARDED CLOSE DECISION
Leo Matlock, the blonde Indian fighter, took a close four-round decision over Mistah Ted Frenchle, of Central-Ave., Madison Square Garden at Boyd Ellis's fight emporium at Dehlil last night. It was an exciting scrap throughout and kept the big crowd on edge. In the opinion of a big majority of the fans, Matlock was lucky to receive a draw. The colored boy's tendency to hang on continually in the clinches undoubtedly displeased Referee Chick Brown to the extent that he declared Matlock winner. Both boys fought hard and there was plenty of hard hitting throughout.
Paul Duarte of Los Angeles made a chopping block of Dick Gard of Huntington Beach for three rounds and with one hand, his left. Duarte's right hand was broken in the first round but he did not need it anyway. Referee Brown put an end to the misery in the third.
Paddy Dillon and Joe Garcia of Los Angeles, fought and boxed and flashed thru four rounds to a draw in a bout which was the class of the night. Paddy should have received the verdict but Garcia's last round rally probably took the referee's eye and it was called even-steven. Delhir Fredericks put a stop to the pugnish aspirations of Vic Weddell of Huntington Beach in round one, when one of Frederick's old "Mary Ann's" connected on Weddell's button for a goal. Waddell slammed "Delhi" real hard, right smack on the beezer, and "Delhi" took the nine count only to get up and put the lights out for Victor.
Clever Packy O'Farrell put the crusher on Young Monroe in round three after he had chased Monroe about the ring for nearly a couple or furlongs. A big house was present and in all, it was a good show. Chick Brown referenced in his usual efficient and capable manner.

DARNLEY'S PRELIMS
BEAT MAIN EVENTS
By "Manly Art"
It just seems as the Matchmaker Billy Darnley, of the Anaheim Athletic Club, is never going to put on a "Main Event" that will be superior to his preliminaries for it in a race that at all of Billy's shows the preliminary bouts have far out-classed his feature attractions, not saying that there hasn't been a main event of real caliber for there surely has been. Take, for instance, the Rubidoux-Martin affair of last week, as high class boys boxing anywhere on the coast-Roubidoux is appearing on the Hollywood card and next to the top position this coming Friday, so well thought of is he and his services are always in demand.
But the fact remains, that at most of the club shows, the preliminary bouts have all been a more or less fireworks brand, chocolate-boek full of action and so good have they been, that in most cases they have far out-shadowed the main bouts.
However, Darnley believes that in the Young Dudley-Mike Golindo fracas which will be the club's feature event tomorrow evening, he has a real honest-to-goodness 100 per cent main event. It will be a fight from start to finish and unless all signs fall, it will send the bugs home with a far dizzier feeling than they had at last week's show, which, by the way, will be a hard one to beat. Just tab the Golindo-Dudley affair as one sweet "ill-of" battle. And to back up his feature attraction, Manager Darnley has line up some real battlers in the preliminaries and they promise rare action. Johnny Dempsey, the boy who mixes with clever Daddy Dillon in the semi-windup, should make the biggest kind of a hit with local fight bugs. He is a fast, clever fighter and a mean hitter. Paddy will have his hands full, make no mistake about it.
Packy O'Farrell, (Kewpie Dillon) is on the bill with Johnny McGraw of Los Angeles. McGraw is making his first appearance in a local ring. He is said to be right there with his mitts. He will have to be for he is up against tough pickings in this Packy boy, who is fast becoming one of the

He will have to be for he is up against tough pickings in this Packy boy, who is fast becoming one of the local club's best audience pleasers. Rough, tough Jimmy Lloyd, (Chimmy de Whale) is back again and draws that hard-hitting slugger from Whittier, Young Terry. Undoubtedly, fight fans are due for a realistic and sensational go of it. Young Montoya, the fast 118-pounder from Placentia, hooks up with Johnny Nandes, an aggressive, willing youngster who calls La Habra his home.
Another good house is being anticipated as there has been a big demand for seats. The card looks to be the real "cats pajamas" when it comes to action. Ticket reservations may be secured at the United Cigar Store, 123 Center-st. Phone 153.

Standpoint
The minute a purchaser takes a new car from the salesroom it becomes a used car and its resale value is lower. When it is sold, the greatest portion of the depreciation and value of the car is taken by the original buyer; therefore the purchaser of a used car is in many instances enabled to resell or "trade in" his used car for practically as much as he paid for it.
