CHILDREN'S RELIEF ASSN. BOARD MEETS
Directors of the Crippled Children's Relief Assn. of Orange co at their semi-monthly meeting yesterday, listened to a very interesting report of the investigating committee on their work since the board's last meeting. Several cases are now under treatment and more have been reported which are being investigated at this time. The report of the finance committee that funds were low was not so encouraging, but subscriptions are coming in so that treatment of the cases now on hand is practically assured.
One little fellow, who was not only instructed with club feet but his foot were turned over so that he walked on his ankles, is fast regaining normal. His limbs which had withered and shrunk are fast filling out, and it now bothers some of the other youngsters in his neighborhood to keep up with him in a race. At first the child and his parents objected to treatment, but now as they see the results, they are more than pleased.
Mrs. Emanuel Smith or Mrs. Lottie E. Mora of Fullerton; Mrs. Thomas H. McFadden of Placentia; or Mrs. M. E. Canby, secretary of Anaheim, will be very glad to receive subscriptions, or give any desired information concerning this Association.

NAME COMMITTEE TO DISTRIBUTE COAL
WASHINGTON, July 25.—President Harding, in his plan for having the Government take over the distribution and regulation of coal supplies, will appoint a committee consisting of Secretaries Hoover and Fall, Attorney General Daugherty and Chairman McChord of the Interstate Commerce Commission. Coal and rail operatives will have representatives on the committee; agents of which will be stationed in every coal field. A committee of coal operators or owners will be in each field. Coal will be given preference in freight movements. Only mine owners who agreed to fair price arrangements will be allowed coal. All operators agree to ask only $3.50 per ton the maximum price at the mine fixed by the Department of Commerce.
ROW OVER BATHS
LONDON, July 25.—There are no baths in the Cumberland village of Workington, so the local parson had the crypt of his church fitted up with baths and showers.

"Cleanliness is next to Godliness. When did you bathe last?"

PRISONERS REBEL AS TRUCK BREAKS DOWN
LOS ANGELES, July 25. — Drawing his revolver and threatening the leaders of the gang of rebellious men, Deputy Sheriff James Bond quelled a riot that broke out among a group of 17 county prisoners in his charge today, according to a report made to the sheriff's office from the vicinity of Newhall, where the encounter took place.
The outbreak was reported to have started when the men became very angry after the automobile truck in which they were being transported from this city to the county camp at Swartcott canyon broke down near Newhall and caused the prisoners to remain awake during the night. The prisoners were being taken to the county camp, 125 miles north of this city, where they were to engage in road building until their prison sentences expired.

MILLIONS ATTEND MOVIES, SAYS HAYS
LOS ANGELES, July 25. — From 10,000,000 to 20,000,000 men, women and children attended the movies daily in this county. Will H. Hays, head of the producers, said today at the weekly luncheon of the Chamber of Commerce in the Alex-rizz Hotel. Hays, who is on a trip here, was the guest of honor. Jesse L. Lasky and other prominent makers of motion pictures were present. The only other speaker besides Hays was Metly H. Flint of the Los Angeles Trust and Savings Bank.
The integrity of the motion picture industry must be protected the same as that of our churches and its quality development the same as our schools, continued Hays. The work of improving the movies is "the multitude's job," he added. The country is against censorship of movies, pulpit and press alike, declared the speaker. But the country also is against wrong doing.
Hays predicted that in his opinion "there will be series of motion pictures adopted soon by boards of education just as now series of text books are adopted." The movies can do three things; said Hays: Fill the necessity for entertainment, instruct and act as an agent to unite the peoples of the earth.
