McFadden OF ANAHEIM CANDIDATE FOR SHERIFF OF ORANGE COUNTY Primaries Aug. 29, 1922 MIYAKE EXPECTED TO DISPLAY MUCH JIU JITSU HERE Taro Miyake champion Japanese wrestler and world's leading exponent of jiu jitsu, may be expected to display everything he knows of each form of grappling in his match here with Roy Mabee, Anaheim favorite, at the Grand theatre, next Tuesday evening, it was admitted by his manager today. Both men are now at the same weight, 176, and the match which goes to the winner of two falls will be nothing if it isn't a battle. It might be said here and now, that Anheim wrestling fans have yet to see their wrestling fan's shoulders pinned to the mat even once. And now is not discounting Miyake, who recently got a draw with Strangler Ed. Lewis, jiu jitsu style, at the Los Angeles Athletic club, and who won a fall from Miller, the Los Angeles home boy, before the same club. It takes a wrestler to do either. However, it is not only Mabee's prowess as a wrestler that has so enthused local mat followers but his good sportsmanship on and off the mat. Just another example of his square shooting leaked out after his recent match with Joe "Toots" Mondt, the Colorado giant. By reason of his failing to throw Mabee even once in an hour, after agreeing to throw him twice, Mondt was entitled to but 40 per cent of the box office receipts. At the conclusion of the match, Mabee said: "You're a good sport and a clean wrestler. To show you I'm the same, we'll split the gate receipts 50-50 instead of 60-40. You've earned it." It wouldn't be good business for all wrestlers, especially those who foresee any chance of losing, to select as an opponent the owner of a $100,000 orange ranch who can afford to distribute the gate receipts in such easy fashion.
