CYPRESS NEWS CYPRESS, July 17. (Spl.)—The Shell company well at Los Alamitos is down about 2000 feet, with a showing of gas. There is much activity in leasing in and about the sugar town. Lots are leasing for $10 and acreage is going as high as $50. The Buena Park well has collapsed at about 2500 feet. It is thought that the difficulty will be overcome in a few days and drilling operations will proceed. The well stood cemented off at about the 3200 foot level. It was when the drill was sent down to drill the cement that the collapse was discovered. Indications were that oil might be developed at any time. The Lessors Company is reported as having changed hands. The report is not substantiated yet, but it is known that a Canadian Syndicate has been dickering for the holdings. There is considerable inquiry as to leases in the Cypress section but not much activity, the people are holding off. It is reported that the Jack Doyle interests are contemplating securing leases and starting drilling operations in the near future.
