PLAYMATES MEET TO SAY GOODBYE TO LITTLE GIRL A VERY happy children's party was held last evening at the home of little "Allie" Pannier when she entertained with a farewell for her little girl friend, "Ruthie" Meade, who leaves soon for Omaha, to pass the summer with relatives. Dressed in their prettiest little frocks, with perky bows on their hair and each carrying a toy for amusement throughout the party, the children all looked very dainty. Little "Peggy," (Dr. van de Erve) in her rompers and sunbonnet, carrying her sand bucket and shovel was a favorite, as was "Jimmie," (Miss Curtis) in his coveralls, with a big red apple, Jimmie, however, lost a little of his popularity when he "swiped" a playmate's Teddy bear, and refused to give it up. The children played out of doors a while, but growing restless, they went into the house where their eyes widened in admiration of the lovely junk gladiolias in big baskets all about the rooms of the pretty home. As they seemed to be hungry, the little hostess served lemonade and animal cookies quite frequently. The small ones then wrote letters for their playmate, "Ruthie," and tied them in packages, which she will read on the train during her journey east. They recited nursery rhymes or sang songs, the prize going to little "Beth" (Dr. Raische) for her song, "My Mamma Told Me," etc. The girls honoring "Ruthie" were "Rubie" Aikman, "Bethie" Raische, "Hennie" van de Erve, "Addie" Curtis, "Lillie" Tallaksen, "Myrtle" Womer, "Nite" Herzler, "Libbie" Martin, "Essie" Block, "Ednee" Hochull, "Allie" Teevan, and "Allie" Pannier. All were served pineapple ice and wafers just before the bedtime story. During her absence in Omaha "Ruthie" will grow up and upon her return in the late summer to San Francisco will wed John McLaughlin, a California young business man, and make her home in the sunny Southland.
