Tuesday, June 27, 1922 SPORTS DUDLEY APPEARS IN FAREWELL FRIDAY Young Dudley, local colored flash, will make probably his last appearance before a local fight crowd for the next few months when he meets Herb Ryan in the feature event of the Athletic club's weekly boxing bill next Friday night. Dudley has been offered several bouts up-state and as he has never appeared before any of the northern clubs he is very anxious to make the trip. The colored lad should make good right off the reel for he is as good audience pleaser as any boy who has yet boxed for the local club. Dud, as he is familiarly called, has the makings of a right smart good fighter if properly handled. He is a bear on training, always in the best of condition and the result has been that every time he has started it has always been a real fight in so far as he was concerned. The youngster is boxing in rare form at present and hitting like a trip-hammer. In Ryan, his opponent for Friday night, Dudley will be up against a real two-fisted fighter and a hard puncher like himself. Ryan has fought and beaten such good boys as Mike O'Leary, Young Sumner, Hal Clark and numerous others of that caliber. They should put a hurricane mill "fight fans" should be a well satisfied bunch after witnessing the fracas. In the semi-windup that classy little fellow, Ted Levin, the lad who made such a big hit at last Friday's show by the workmanlike manner in which he trounced Leonard Lee, a real good boy himself from Denver, will meet Jake Poole of Covina. Poole is a rough, faugh, hard-hitting, two-handed, scraper himself, and should give up a red-hot argument. Covina fails unless they have a coming champion in him. He is the boy who knocked out Kid Louie over there recently in two rounds but since then Louie gained a decision over him at Delhi after a fast set-to. But what is slated to be the real feature of the evening program will... Houser, for 16 years judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles-co., has announced his candidacy for associate justice of the District Court of Appeals which embraces all of So. Calif, and a large part of Central Calif. He was one of the founders of the College of Law of the U. of S. F. and for 12 years has been an instructor in legal ethics. The fact that he has spent such a large part of his time in research work and matters connected with our higher courts, fits him peculiarly, his friends declare. Judge Houser has been selected to try the accused members of the Ku Klux Klan. His fairness appeals to litigants, lawyers and witnesses. However, those who are helping to boost the campaign of Judge Houser point to the fact that he is not a publicity seeker and that he is fearless and will render decisions irrespective of the results either political or otherwise. Mothers and oftentimes grandmothers have taken and have learned the value of Lydia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. So they recommend the medicine to others. The best test of any medicine is what it has done for others. For nearly fifty years we have published letters from mothers, daughters, and women, young and old, recommending the Vegetable Compound.
