"BUGS" RAYMOND IS ELIMINATION WINNER
Alfred "Bugs" Raymond is some bowler. This he proved last night at the Anaheim alleys when he defeated "Mighty" Al Johnson in the semi-finals and Dugas in the finals of the elimination tournament.
The semi-finals brought together Martin of Buena Park vs Dugas of Anaheim. This was the best game of the semi-finals.
Martin took the lead first game with Dugas two pins behind; but at the end of the second game Dugas took the lead and held it, finally winning by 40 pins. "Mighty" Johnson was off form and was beaten by Raymond easily in the semi-finals.
In the first game of the finals Dugas led by one pin. At the end of the second game Raymond was leading by one pin. The third was nip and tuck all the way, one leading and then the other, until the end. Raymond won by eight pins. The score:
Semi-Finals
Martin ... 184 185 162 531
Dugas ... 182 1900 199 571
Johnson ... 180 145 169 494
Raymond ... 186 193 192 571

ANAHEIM ELKS WIN
3 FROM GLENDALE
Anaheim Elks No. 2 won three straight from Glendale No. 2 on the later's alleys in the third week's play of the So. Cal. Bowling league.
The local "Bills" rolled like champions, piling up a total of 2792 pins.
Tonight Anaheim Elks No. 1 travel to Glendale for a clash with the No. 1 team there.
HUNT GETS CHANCE AT DUDLEY TONITE
Tonight's weekly boxing card at the Athletic club's open air arena on the sugar factory grounds looks to be class. Some high class boys very evenly matched. At any rate, there promises to be enough action to more than satisfy the fight bug. As in last week's program, the heaviest boys will weigh but 138 lbs, and the lightest 118 lbs. This, as a rule, tends to produce liveller action. The bigger fellows, while they sock a lot harder, are a good deal slower.
The main event between Anaheim's colored flash, Young Dudley and Wild Willie Hunt, who hails from Fresno, will no doubt be a "Humdinger" from start to finish. Hunt, while not in the training camp of Jack Dempsey, knows how and will fight. He has been on the colored youth's trail for a long time. Both are clever, Willing mixers and know the finer points of the game. Besides, each packs a healthy wallop. They will weight in at about 138 lbs.
The semi-windup, between that fast little fellow from Denver, Leonard Lee, and Joe (Kid) Fargon from Fullerton also is coming in for an unusual share of interest. Lee is reported to be in good shape and as he is after a main event here he expects to show fight buys some real stuff. Fargon has the backing of almost the entire population of our neighboring city or more properly speaking that portion of Anaheim to the north and which is generally called Fullerton. Fargon will have a weight advantage over Lee of about seven or eight pounds but Lee is not letting that worry him any in the least. He says that young Mr. Fargon will be lucky to get out of the ring. Yea, Bo, looks like it might be a live affair!
The preliminaries look to be out of the ordinary. Joe Chaney will be up against tougher game in Frankie Duffy than he was last week when he stacked up with Willie Kelly. However, Joe is in good shape.

The preliminaries look to be out of the ordinary. Joe Chaney will be up against tougher game in Frankie Duffy than he was last week when he stacked up with Willie Kelly. However, Joe is in good shape and is expected to put up his usual good contest. Duffy is a ragged two-handed mixed with a mean kick in either mitt so it should be a good go.
Much interest is centered around the appearance of popular Eddie Randall, formerly of St. Louis but now making his home here. Eddie in his day was a regular go-get him-son-of-a-gun and judging by the manner in which he has been shaping up in his workouts, Sailor Lester, his opponent for this evening, is due for a warm argument. Eddie is boxing in good form and is hitting on all fours. Eddie Green, that hard socking darkey who rocked Mr. Hogan back to the shores of Kilkenny on last week's card, meets a fast, clever lad in Bobby Gray who is bringing all the natives of his "Hum Town," La Habra, with him. They think a lot of Bobby over there but they are apt to change their minds very quickly if Mistah Green connects with that terrible left of his.
The curtain raiser will bring on Mose Mootch and Young Montoya, a couple of willing youngsters at 122 lbs. They have promised to set off.

HEAD PIN TOURNEY HELD NEXT WEEK
Next week, starting Tuesday night at Anaheim Bowling alloy will see a novelty tournament called the Head Pin.
In this contest a "C" Bowler is on equal terms with "A" Bowlers. The object is to roll one ball a frame with 12 frames to be rolled. If the roller misses the head pin in any frame he is chalked up with a blank for that inning. The possible score for this contest is 120 pins. Last year the tournament was won by a local "C" bowler.
Everybody who can roll a ball down the alley and thinks he can hit the head pin is invited to take part in this. Entries close Tuesday night at 8 p.m.

I was certainly surprised to find out that I was such a "good guesser," but the funny part about it was that all my friends knew about it before I did.
I want to thank you and will certainly try to put it to good use.

Hello Folks:
In the "good old days," when there was enough liquid refreshments to satisfy most every one, when party candidates were elected at convention, this was the glad season. All the aspirants for office would be out with free cigars and in most cases with a bottle on the hip or under the buggy seat.
Those that enjoyed free smokes and drinks were in their glory. It cost something to be an office seeker in those days. First of all you had to be a good fellow which meant the passing out of free smokes to every voters you met and drinks to most of them. Then there were the political bosses of each community; they must have a little cash to work on. Then these were the big bosses that handled the little bosses and also controlled the county conventions. Any way, every voter was petted and smoked and 'billed' till he imagined his vote was very important.
Now-a-days it is all changed. We seldom get a free smoke and we would be afraid to drink if anything was offered. The old partisan prejudice is dying away for lock of fuel. We are no longer Republicans or Democrats because our fathers were before us. In many instances we hardly know for whom and what we are voting.
In the old way we saw and met the men for whom we voted, now nine-tenths of the voters never see the men for whom they cast their votes.
It would be great if the people could be awakened to their political.

BACK GIVES OUT
Plenty of Anaheim Readers Have This Experience
You tax the kidneys — overwork them—
They can't keep up the continual strain.
The back may give out—it may ache and pain;
Urinary troubles may set in.
Don't wait longer — take Doan's Kidney Pills.
Anaheim people tell you how they act.
Mrs. A. Steafather, 415 E. Charles St., Anaheim, says: "I am glad to recommend Doan's Kidney Pills, for I have used them with good results. My kidneys caused me to suffer with backache and I felt dull and tired out. My kidneys were irregular in action, but I used Doan's Kidney Pills and they stopped the backaches and regulated my kidneys. I felt better in every way and advise anyone having kidney trouble to give Doan's a trial."

SEVERAL CARS OF KIWANIANS LEAVE
The biggest crow of Kiwanians said to have ever left California for an international convention of the Kiwanis club departed on a special train of several cars from Los Angeles over the So. Pac.
