POOR RESULTS IN DRILLING DEEP Oil Field Operators Deep drilling at Richfield is not bringing very good results. The Standard Oil Co.'s Kellogg No. 1 has passed the 5350 mark and is not showing any oil. The Petroleum Midway drilled a test well on the Richfield-Yorba property and is abandoning the well at 4800 feet. The Wonder Co. has its No. 4 close to 4500 and is drilling in brown sandy shale. The Chansler-Canfield has just completed a well on the Bradford property at 4431 and got a producer rated at a 125 barrels. The General Petroleum's Hugo No. 3 completed at 5500 feet and next to a well making 300 barrels is making but 20 barrels. The Richfield-Yorba failed to make a commercial producer at 3448 and is being drilled deeper. A deal of considerable importance has just been consummated at Whitier, the parties to the deal being the Whitley Oil Company and "Jim" O'Donnell. Mr. O'Donnell has bought into the Whitley Oil Company and will go ahead and develop its holdings. Three producing wells that have fallen off in production and have developed water will be redrilled and put in condition. Wells 6 and 7, and 8 are to be drilled at once. It is understood that the heavy drilling obligations entered into by the Whitley company some time ago have been modified and concessions made. The deal by which O'Donnell talks over the Whitley will mean success to the company in that O'Donnell has the money and the experience to develop the Whitley's holdings. The Whitley Oil Company presented Southern California with a new field when it discovered Rideout Heights some three years ago. A move at Montbello or rather in the south side of the field that is attracting a great deal of attention is the starting of a well on Simons Brick Yard by the Fullerton Oil Company. It seems that the Fullerton has had this property under lease for some little time, but has not been in the position to get started on the drilling. Should oil be found the Montebello field will get a CASEY, THE COP SHAKE A LEG! GIT MEA DIAMOND EXPERTIF THESE ARE THE REAL THINGS WE GOT THE BIGGEST CROOK IN SEVEN STATES! ADDITIONAL AGENTS CHASE SMUGGLERS Orange-co. will get several of the 10 additional agents in Calif., assigned by S. F. Rutter, State Prohibition Director, to run down smugglers of rum or their land confederates, it is declared in Los Angeles. Investigations at Long Beach show that "there is a well organized movement to snuggle liquor into the coast cities in the southern part of the state," said an attache of Rutter's office. Small boats, it is believed, are used. "We feel that the men behind these snuggling operations have carefully mapped the coast between San Diego and Los Angeles, and will We offer 7 1-3 acres choicest full bearing Valencia Oranges. The note was contained in a cigar box in which Miss Daniels was to put the money and toss the box and contents into the canal at Naples. Detectives went to the spot, with a woman substituted for Miss Daniels, and throw the box into the canal at the spot designated, but no one appeared.
