H.S. GIRLS LEAGUE
HONORS MOTHERS
WITH RECEPTION
THE Mothers' Reception at the high school yesterday afternoon, given by the Girls' League, was enjoyed by both girls and the mothers. The new auditorium and entrance hall were beautifully decorated with roses, honey-yuckle, Matilija poppies, Martha Washington geraniums and flowers in blue and gold from the botany gardens.
The program was a splendid one and very ably presented, the numbers including the address of welcome by Frances Adams, president; words of welcome, Miss Walker, vice principal; "Mother Machree," voice, Elizabeth Donnelly, with violin accompaniment, Rose Donnelly; whistling solo, little Dorothy Winters, accompanied by her sister, Florence Winter; play, "Two Slatterns and a King," Charles Smith, Hilda Gordon, Hulda Backenhus, Marie Jones, composing the cast.
A piano solo, Florence Austin, was followed by two selections by the Girls' Glee club, "The Barefoot Trail," and "Water Lillies," with Mrs. Higgins, director, concluding the program.
Delicious punch and cake were served after the program. Inspecting the buildings was a feature much enjoyed by the guests. Most of the flowers were taken to the Anaheim hospital by Miss Owen after the guests departed, where they will give immeasurable cheer to the patients.
ENTERTAINERS FAIL TO APPEAR
Misfortune overtook the entertainers from the Louvyn Art gallery and the Norse Studio and School of Sculpture, from Hollywood, who had offered to give of their talent to the Orange show program last evening, and were unable to appear. Five autos loaded all right, but the others of the company, about twenty in number, made the journey in a motor bus, which broke down near Whittier, and was detained until after ten o'clock.
The hour then being too late to give the performance, the entire crowd of more than forty, adjourned to the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Luce, where they gave the program, and later enjoyed an elaborate luncheon, with hot coffee, contributed by Mrs. Luce. The entertainment was featured with Spanish dancing, prano music and vocal numbers. After a happy evening together they returned to their homes at a late hour.
LONG-TIME FRIENDS VISIT
Mrs. E. R. Graham, of Los Angeles, and Miss Puella Schroeder, of Welcome, Minn., were guests yesterday of Miss Frieda Janas. In the afternoon they motored to the beach and in the evening attended the orange show. This is the first meeting between the three friends who as little girls played together in their eastern homes. In some time and a trip to the beaches in the afternoon, with a visit to the orange show in the evening made the day a most delightful one. Miss Schroeder is touring the west, and is greatly pleased with Anaheim in general and the orange show in particular.

BREA FACULTY ENJOYS DINNER AT BECK HOME
DINNER party given by Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Beck, of 119 Ellis Place, Fullerton, last evening, included as guests thirtyome of their friends, among whom was every member of the Brea school faculity, to which Miss Beck belongs. The event became rather a matter of history, as it was the first time in the history of the Brea schools that the faculty has met on the whole in a party. The tables, two large ones, shaped into an L, were laid on the lawn, and were tastily decorated with sweet peas in baskets. Festos of electric lights hung above. The snowy napery, with the delicious menu, chicken as the de resistance, and the happy faces about the board, made the occasion one long to be remembered.
After dinner the guests repaired to the house, where the rooms were fragrant with sweet peas. Dancing to victoria music was the very pleasant manner of entertainment.
Many of the eastern states were represented, as the guests are largely from beyond the Rockies. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Ustick and Mrs. James Byrne, of Fullerton, relatives of the hostess, were among the company.
REPORTS FINE CONVENTION
W. J. M. Heinz, who returned Wednesday night from Santa Cruz, where he, with L. J. Sheriean, attended the Knights of Columbus state convention at delegates from Anaheim Council, No. 1154, reports the meeting the best in recent years, with a record attendance. The sessions were held Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
Among other important matters was election of representatives to the national convention which will be held at Atlantic City this summer, they being Frank E. Michels, Sacramento; M. J. Sirva, Napa; Frank Jenal, Los Angeles; J. F. DonBARN DANCE IN NEW GARAGE AT KISTENHOLZ HOME
The nice double garage recently built at the Emil Kestenholz home, 1219 Diamond street, walded last evening with a jolly Rube barn dance, in which twenty friends participated. The building was decked for the occasion with many-colored paper streamers, and wild blooms. The costumes were all of grotesque kind but most noticeable well the garbs of three or four of the ladies (?) who walked with a suspicious stride. Although they were hand-painted, and faultlessly marcelled, an embryo Sherlock Holmes whispered they were boys in masquerade, and such was later proven. But jollity reigned supreme all evening, dancing being the chief feature with music furnished by the victrola. Punch was served through-out the evening, and choice refreshments later.
Guests of the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Gus, Prescott, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Black, of Long Beach; Mr. and Mrs. Alex Payte, Mrs. Katherine Gliss and sons, Harold and Monroe; Misc Jessie Milliken, Miss Nannie Riley, of Stanton; Ralph Wilcox, Gus Hein, Richfield; Mr. and Mrs. Kestenholz, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Kestenholz Jr., and Max and Henry Kestenholz.
S.-S. CLASS IN BIG MEETING
The Loyal Workers class of the Christian church met yesterday with Mrs. W. S. Gossett, and during a busy session discussed some matters that are going to bring a lot of pleasure to the members of the class and the church. About twenty-five members were present, and several visitors.
A pleasing announcement was the donation of a gas range for use in the church kitchen. An all-day meeting will be held in the Howe home next Wednesday to do some quilting for Mrs. Howe.
Several committees were appointed, others confirmed, among them being the emergency flower committee, Mrs. N. F. Ballou and Mrs. Wilda Botst. Mrs. Gossett, assisted by Mrs. Ritter and Mrs. White, and her daughter, Miss Merle Gossett, served a luncheon in the late afternoon.
