GARDEN GROVE, May 15—(Spl.)
E. O. Fulsom has purchased H. E. Carrier's three lots on Euclid across from the Garden Grove filling station, and will soon commence the erection of a beautiful bungalow thereon.
A seven and one-half pound daughter arrived at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Wentr, Wednesday, May 10th.
Mrs. Dewight Magill entertained the teachers of the Garden Grove high school and grammar school, Tuesday evening, at her home east of town. A pleasant evening was enjoyed with music and various games, after which delicious refreshments were served.
Mrs. T. E. Niles left Friday morning for Porterville where she will spend about six weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Harvey.
Tuesday evening at the grammar school a reception will be given to the patrons and friends of the Garden Grove Union high school. Merion C. Hill, a former Garden Grove boy, and now principal of the Chaffey Union high school, will be present to give an address.
Some music students from the Chaffey high, will take part in the program, and a delightful evening is assured.
The former friends of Mr. Hill are especially invited to be present.
The newly elected directors of the C. of C. have elected the following officers for the ensuing year: J. G. Allen, president; C. C. Violett, first vice president; F. H. Felberg, 2nd vice president; C. B. Henry, 3rd vice president; Geo. Reyburn, secretary; F. A. Monroe, treasurer; H. A. Lake, delegate to associated chamber of commerce.

Rev. and Mrs. S. W. Gage were pleasantly surprised Tuesday evening, when a number of young people from the Temple Baptist church of Los Angeles gathered at their home to spend the evening. A pleasant time was passed at conversation and music, after which a sumptuous lunch prepared by the guests was enjoyed.
Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Varing, Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Curtis, Billy Haselwanter Miss Ene Haselwanter, Allie Williamson, Della and Clara Kearley, and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Armstrong.
George Oerrley and the Misses Dorothy and Alleen Andrews of Long Beach, spent Sunday with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. Oertley.
Miss Mabel Woodworth with Mrs. Harvey Bennett of El Toro as joint hostess entertained the drama-music section of Ebell club at the home of Miss Woodworth Monday afternoon at a 1 o'clock luncheon.
Following the luncheon, a short business meeting was held at the conclusion of which a musical program was given, with Miss Woodworth in charge. The musical program consisted of a number of Russian music played on the phonograph and a piano solo rendered by the hostess.

Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Edmunds, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Elmore and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Butler of Santa Ana, spent Saturday and Sunday visiting at the E. A. Pearson home near Riverside.
The Home Missionary Society of the M. E. church held their annual mite box opening at the home of Mrs. Susan Chaffee, Friday afternoon, with a good attendance.
Mrs. Morse, president of the San Diego district, told of the work being done by the Home Missionary society in the school and homes in that city.

THREE HELD FOR SHOOTING
SAN FRANCISCO, May 15—Tnos. Callihan of San Francisco, another San Franciscan named Doyle, and D. E. Bettencourt, Sequoia Park dutryman, are being held in connection with the shooting at Mill Valley of Quay Barnett. The four were dining together, according to the story of the three, and Barnett was instantly killed when he walked into the kitchen to get a dish of asparagus. He was shot through the heart.
