CITY DELAYS BOND SALE, SAVES MONEY Instead of six per cent interest on Anaheim's $240,000 in sewer bonds, the percentage mentioned when the issuance of the bonds first was proposed, probably five per cent will be fixed, owing to the excellent state of the bond market. City Manager O. E. Steward indicated today. Deducting the premium which this city like Santa Ana should receive, the actual interest to be paid may be as low as four and one-half per cent or a little less. Steward refused to predict any stated interest rate, but called attention to the fact that Santa Ana after deducting the premium received from the sale of its share of the outfall sewer bonds to Stephens & Company of Los Angeles, etc., will really pay only 4.42 per cent. Anaheim's tax-payers will ben fit also, not only from the fact that not all the bonds of either of the sewer bond issues will be offered for sale at once if at all, but that the offering of the $160,000 issue for the local sewer will be put off until just before the work is to start. At present only the $60,000 issue covering the cost of the city's share in the outfall sewer and treatment plant for which Santa Ana is paying jointly with Anaheim, will be sold. Bids will be invited shortly, Steward said. The city council, however, must first formally act, setting the interest rate, etc. Steward has not yet decided what proportion of either issue he will recommend for sale at the outset. Anchelm's credit is excellent, the bond market is likely to continue to improve, and the net interest on the local sewer bonds is not likely to be any larger than that on the outfall sewer issue. We furnish free with each lug a plate for the inside of the rim to keep the bolt head from pulling through. We furnish bolts and spring washers when desired at market prices plus small profit for handling. We are pioneers in the manufacture of spade lugs, and have done a great deal of experimenting in this line, and believe that the shape and material we are using cannot be surpassed. The length of the lug required is determined by the nature of your soil. The 6-inch length being best adapted for light or sandy soil, and if used on heavy soil will not allow the rim to rest on the ground, increasing your speed and causing vibration. Therefore in the harder soil the 5½-inch length is proper. Our lugs are made of a mixture of gray iron and steel, and are chilled to make the hardest, toughest and long-life spade lug that is possible to make. We have never known one to break. These lugs are adapted for use on Fordson, Sampson, Case, Wallis, International and numerous other tractors. Prices subject to changes without notice. All prices are net f.o.b. Santa Ana, California. PROMPT DELIVERY IS OUR MOTTO Aphis Control have been making preparations to spray we have found 50 per cent of the aphis parasitized and in orchards like this the increase of these parasites will destroy the infestation in a very short time. In handling aphis it is also necessary to take into consideration the work of the natural enemies and the extent of the infestation before resorting to artificial control measures. Both of these insects multiply with such rapidity that in order to give the grove the necessary protection it should be inspected often and treated before they have had time to retard the development of the new growth or detract from the appearance of the fruit.
