TEAM 41-10 In the fifth game of the high school girls baseball league, Garden Grove last evening met defeat at the hands of Anaheim's fast team. Playing nine fast innings, the visiting team was only able to go home with 10 digits, leaving the home team with 41 points. Alma Chritton pitched for the local team. Anaheim girls have only one more league game to play, that with Santa Ana on May 18. If they win, which they seem sure to, they will hold the championship in baseball. A number of these girls were on the championship basketball team. Playing last evening were the Misses Young, Chritton, Huarte, Requarch, Cordes, Poyet, Carner, Adams, Holdsworth, and Cook. The role of umpire was given to M. Janss and H. Schacht. The girls basketball game between Anaheim and Escondido to decide the So Calif. championship has been put off until May 20 instead of May 13, the date formerly set. The girls are getting in some excellent practice and some first class exhibition basketball stunts, that only the local girls know how to do, will be displayed. Coach Jacques declares that the girls are doing better in their practice than they did when the league games were being played. The local girls are going to meet the Escondido team in San Diego and they are going with one understanding—to bring home the So Calif. title. HUNTINGTON BEACH TEAM GOES LAST The Huntington Beach C. of C. will provide the funds to send the victorious track team, champions of the state to Chicago, it was announced today, following a big mass meeting last night when the team was welcomed home from Stockton. McCreery, secretary of the C. of C., will accompany the five men to Chicago. The five are Bill Kerr, Milton Nash, Verdon Nash, Charles Biekmore and Nichols. KRAEBER 'ALIBI DRIVE' PUSHED IN BURCH CASE LOS ANGELES, May 9. — With three more new witnesses ready to take the stand when the trial of Arthur C. Burch on the charge of murdering J. Belton Kennedy was resumed in Judge Sidney N. Reeve's court this morning, attorneys for Burch continued their "alibi drive" on the state's case. The three new witnesses, whose identity was withheld by Paul W. Sohneck, chief of counsel for Burch, were prepared to give testimony supporting the story told to the jury by Mrs. Frances E. Malloy of Watts. The elderly woman testified that she saw Burch driving a Dodge roadster in Watts, between 7:30 and 8 o'clock on the night of the Kennedy murder. Kennedy was murdered 20 miles away in the front of his "love hut" in the presence of his sweetheart, Madalynne C. Obenchain, at 9 o'clock that night. Doheny declared that business relations between the United States and Mexico are upon a more firmly established basis of annuity, good will and sound understanding than they have been in a decade. "SHORT ARM" THIEF MISSES DIAMONDS SAN FRANCISCO, May 9.—Shortness of his arm prevented a clover thief from securing diamonds valued at $30,000 when he robbed a glass showcase of Shreve & Co., in the lobby of the St. Francis hotel. He was able to reach only four pieces of jewelry on exhibit, valued at $12,000. He "lifted" the jewels in the crowded lobby under the eyes of hundreds of persons. U.S. RELATIONS WITH MEXICO AMICABLE NEW YORK, May 9.—That the number of Americans traveling abroad this season will reach the highest figures recorded in many years is confirmed by trans-Atlantic steamship companies and also by the state department, which announces that applications for passports are so numerous as to tax the present clerical forces.
