MIGHTY PASADENA
DEFEATED BY ELKS
YESTERDAY 4 TO 3
Anaheim Elks won a real ball game yesterday by the score of 4 to 3 from the famous Cox-Haas team of Pasadena, thanks to the de luxe mound work of Harry Hughes and a sensational catch far back of second base for the third out in the ninth inning by Bush.
Hughes went to the seventh inning before he was hit safely. That lone hit was garnered by Ernie Haas, who is owned by the Los Angeles Coast league team. It could not be turned into a score as R. Haas, next up, forced him at second.
The Cox-Haas crew staged a genuine rally in the ninth when G. Haas lead off with a single, S. Cox, batting for Edmondson, fanned, McNabbs forced G. Haas, E. Haas singled. B. Haas walked, filling the bases. O. Cox was hit on the hand, so he claimed, by a pitched ball, forcing in the first run for the Pasadena crew. Hildebrand doubled, scoring E. and B. Cox, banning, batting for L. Cox, rapped out what looked to be a for sure Texas leaguer but Bush circled far back of second and speared it, cutting off two runs which would have given the visitors the lead by 5 to 4.
Anaheim put the game on ice early. Pendleton, Anaheim's doughty shortstop, first up, started off with a single. Dunn flew out. Pendleton stole second. G. Callan singled, scoring Pendleton. Stephens grounded out, Glenn going to third. Captain Buster Callan was hit by pitched ball. Then a neat play was pulled off. Captain Buster signalled brother Glenn for a double steal. Buster walked into the ball at second but not until Glenn had crossed the plate for a score.
In the second inning, the locals scored another run on three singles and a walk. The fourth run came in the seventh on a walk sacrifice.

Glenn Callan broke into the hit column with two singles and a double yesterday and Hughes batted a thousand, getting two singles and a walk in the three times he stepped to the plate.
Robertson, the Los Angeles Coast League team pitcher who faced the locals, didn't look nearly so good as did Hughes who was smoking them over from start to finish.
The next game of the three series with CoxHaas will be played next Sunday at Brookside Park in Pasadena.

Removal Sale Attracts Buyers to Lindsey’s
