Friday, May 5, 1922 LEGAL NOTICE NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Trustees of the Cypress School District of Orange County, California, will receive bids for the erection and completion of a one-story two-room and auditorium school building located on property owned by said school district at Cypress, California. Each bid is to be in accordance with plans and specifications prepared by Arthur W. Angel, Architect, now on file with said architect at 325 H. W. Hellman Bldg., Los Angeles. Bids are to be taken on the work as follows: L—GENERAL CONTRACT WORK. Corrections and changes to the following specifications: 1. Omit electric heaters, hot plate, bell ringer, gongs and receptacles, switches and electric wiring for same. 2. Contractor to remove bell from present old building and place in tower of new building during construction. 3. Contractor to remove present gas radiators from old building and install in teacher's room in new building and elsewhere as directed; to be connected to gas supply and to be vented thru roof thru concrete vents built into walls and to have a galvanized iron hood over same. 4. Contractor to provide 13-16x 2½x¾ inch clear maple flooring throughout building instead of oregon pine flooring as hereinafter specified; same to be surfaced and finished as specified for O. P. floors. 5. Agent for the Parshell Blackboards specified herein is, J. B. Jouvenat, 305 Cypress Ave., Santa Ana, Calif. 6. The Cypress School Property is located about 8 miles west of Anaheim. 7. KRAEBER High School News The science classes, biology and botany, under the supervision of Miss Mabel Roe, motored today to Modjekka's home and other places in Santiago Canyon for a business and pleasure trip. The classes went on a search for mountain ferns and flowers, and for some species of animals and insects. Mothers of several pupils made the trip. This is an annual affair for the students to get specimens for future work and exhibits. May 6 has been set aside as the annual May Masque at Pomona College. The day is known as Women's day and girls from the different high schools are invited to the college festivities. Different events that interest the feminine mind are given. Among these are the tennis matches, swimming races, dinned damsants and a social hour in the gym. In the evening some play is given at the Greek Theatre in Gandha Park. This is open to the public and is always worth going to. The play to be presented this year by the girls is "The Tragedy of a Puppet." All the alumni of the school, anyone who has gone to college and any high school student interested in the May Masque is invited to attend the Women's day program and entertainment. Water Service: The plumbing contractor is to run his supply from outside of foundation wall where directed to supply all fixtures, etc., as required. Owner will make connections from supply to tank. 2. The Plumbing Contractor is to run gas piping for heating system as shown on foundation plan. Starting at meter pit below grade lines, run thrush foundation wall; run branches to all heaters, kitchenette, etc., as required, sizes as marked on plans. All piping to be black iron screwed together with red lead and proven tight by air test. Grade all lines back to meter and provide a cook for removal of condensation. ALTERNATE FIGURES Plumbers who wish may submit figures for a Steam System of Heating as follows; same is to be considered as an alternate to be added to the original Plumbing Contract Price. The system of steam heating to be considered is to be A ONE-PIPE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OF HEATING. Contractors bidding on this system of heating are to submit their plans and specifications showing the lay-out and outlining the equipment proposed to be installed. Also they are to include in the figure the cost of constructing a boiler room of sufficient size surrounded by concrete walls and metal lath and plaster ceiling; also boiler flue and other work necessary and incidental to the completion of the Steam Heating system as proposed. Each contractor will be required to deposit Ten ($10,000) dollars on plans taken which deposit will be refunded when plans are returned in good condition. Each bid shall be made out on a form inclosed in the specification and must be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check or bidder's Bond (Issued by a surety company accredited by said Board of Trustees) for five per cent of the amount of the bid made payable to J. A. Hollingsworth, Clerk of said Board of Trustees, shall be sealed and filed with said Board on or before May 13, 1922, at 8 o'clock p.m. and will be opened in public soon after that hour at the Cypress School locate dabout 8 miles west of Anaheim, Orange County, California. The above mentioned check or bidder's bond shall be given as evidence that the bidder will enter into contract, if awarded the work, and will be declared forfeited if the successful bidder refuses to enter into said contract after being requested so to do by the said Board of Trustees. The successful bidder will be required to furnish bonds of a Surety Co., satisfactory to the Board of Trustees covering an amount equal to 75 per cent of the contract price.
