ANAHEIM DEFEATS
DIAMOND TAILORS
BY SCORE OF 12-1
Anaheim Elks got some good batting practice yesterday afternoon on the local high school field in a game with Diamond Tailors of Los Angeles in anticipation of a three-game series that open here next Sunday with the fast Haas-Cox team of Pasadena.
The features of the batting practice were home runs by Schrott, Hughes and Pendleton. After Lewis had landed on first by being hit by a pitched ball in the second inning, Schrott sent a drive over second. The second baseman made a leap for it missing it by inches. The ball was travelling however, and continued to travel into deep outfield. In the fourth, Hughes drove one into left field. It looked like a sure catch for the fielder and Hughes stopped his run toward first, however, the fielder couldn't quite reach it and he had to turn and give chase. Hughes making it home before the ball was retrieved. In the eighth, Pendleton also sent the leftfielder after a long drive while be made a circuit of the bases.
In all, Anaheim got 15 safe hits, good for 12 runs, while Hughes held the Tailors to five well-sattered bingles. The Tailors scored but once, in the second, when the locals made three errors.
In pleasing contrast to the previous Sunday when it was with difficulty that nine men were rounded up for the local lineup, there was a whole benchful of talent left after the Elks batting list was announced. In the sixth, Ray Bush, who is playing a last game with the Fullerton Edison, replaced Lewis in right field and Stephens replaced Capt. Bus Callan behind the bat.
Fans may expect some real sport in the series with the Haas-Cox team. The first and third games are played here, the second at Broodside park, Pasadena.
The fans got a good laugh out of yesterday's game when Roy Bush placed your classifiied ads before 13,000 readers.

Yorba News
YORBA, May 1—(Spl.) The funeral of a pioneer. The death of Dona Andrea Yorba de Yorba marks the passing of a great soul to The Great Beyond. Born in San Gabriel on Nov. 30th 1835, the daughter of Texdocio Yorba, and Inocencia, his wife, Dona Andrea, at an early age began to show the signs and characteristics that so endeared her, not only to her immediate relatives and friends but to all others with whom she came in contact. She always attended the call of the needy and the suffering. Her patience, her sweetness, and lovableness of character were her most salient points; her Christian fortitude in adversity, as well as her humility in victory can well be emulated, but hardly ever so well attained by others.
At the high mass, celebrated the day of her burial, Rev. Fr. Prindivi ville of St. Mary's church, Fullerton, spoke kindly words of consolation to sorrowing relatives and friends: then at the cemetery to the large concourse assembled to pay the last loving tribute to the body of the dear, dead friend. Mr. Jonathan Tibbet of Riverside, pioneer historian and grand chief counselor of the Mission Indian Federation, Chief "Buffalo Heart," as Mr. Tibbet is called by the Indians—spoke and told how the Indians on hearing of the death of Dona Andrea, had sorrowed and begged him to bring them with him, and borne him to bring them for particulars.

Reading — When the Minister Comes to Tea, and "My Sister's Beau by Bertha Robison, were fine.
"A pageant of the Past" was next with the girls in costume. Florence Schofield dressed as an Irish girl sang "In an Old Tumble Down Shack." The curtain went up again to the strain of "Silver Threads Among the Gold," and seated in rockers on the stage were Mrs. W. T. Calloway and Mr. E. E. Thurman who received much applause.
Reading by Mrs. J. S. Schofield.
The Highland Fling was danced by Bertha Sharp, Buelah Nelson and Doris Williams and the girls had to respond to several encores.
