STAGE ALL SET FOR
BIG MATCH TONITE
The state is all set for tonight and all eyes are turned towards the Elks club where Roy Mabee is banking strong on making his "comeback" against Al Sparkes, the big strong boy of Anaheim. Both men are reported to be in the "pink," having wound up an intensive three weeks' training period yesterday. They both look and act as if in championship form and no doubt will be capable of giving the fans present a big run for their money. The match promises to be a grueling affair from start to finish.
Both men are out to win and in just as quick a time as possible. To the winner, will go the county championship as well as all laurels that belong to the victor including a fat purse of $500.00. Bull Montana, also, is to be figured on. The winner of tonight's fracas gets a chance at the "Handsome One" at a near date. So, there you are, "ye rasslin' fans." Plek the winner if you can for there is sure going to be one after the smoke of battle clears away.
Our old favorite, Roy Mabee, says that he is coming back and coming back with a vengeance tonight while our pride and hope, little Albert Sparkes, says, "No, there will be no such thing as a 'comeback,' that is, far as he has anything to do with it."
Al and Roy are two determined men. Mabee, no doubt, is the favorite probably due to his previous and excellent long record. In his day, he has met and defeated some good men and he now claims to be in the shape he was in days gone by. Tonight will tell the tale.
Sparkes, on the other hand, is a comparative newcomer to the mat.

DEFEAT LINCOLN
The local high school racqueters played with Lincoln high in Los Angeles and came home with the big end of the score, it being 10 to 6. Only the boys and girls singles and doubles were played. Bob Gibbs and Lorena Poirier won their matches, but the players in the double matches lost to the Lincoln high tennis sharks:

Sparkes, on the other hand, is a comparative newcomer to the mat game but in his few engagements, he has demonstrated that he is there strong as a bull and fast for one of his build and weight.
A safe opinion as to who has the better chance of winning tonight would be, to make a long story short: "It looks like the old story of youth and strength against age and experience. May the best man win!"
A couple of snappy preliminaries have been lined up between Barney Bernhardt and Vic Barden and Jack Anderson vs Babe Orris, a couple of big huskies.
It is hoped that there will be a goodly turnout of the "fair sex" for both boys have a large and enthusiastic following among them. It is hard to tell really who is the bigger favorite in this respect, Albert or Roy. It's a cinch, however, that the loser will receive as many smiles if not more consolation that the winner. That should be something to strive for at that.
The referee will be chosen either between Roger Cornell or Tom McFadden. Promoter Billy Darnley says that the big doings will start promptly at 8:30 o'clock, and that the match is to be to a finish, best two out of three falls, catch-as-catch-can.

High School Athletics
Sport activities are beginning to hum around the high school diamond and track these days and some victories have been added to the list already collected in both the girls and boys games.
The girls baseball team went to Tustin this evening to play in the third league game of the season, the first two games played resulting in victories for the local diamond girls. Another league is lined up with Orange on next Tuesday.
The tennis team is scheduled to meet Santa Ana in a league tourney on May 3 on the county-seat courts.
Fullerton and Anaheim Freshmen will have a track and field meet on the Fullerton oval next Monday. Anaheim is developing some good material that will show up great in the next couple of years.
The last league baseball game of the season will be played at Garden Grove next Tuesday. The local boys have not met with good luck this year but they hope to win the last game.
