SPORT ANAHEIM WINNER OF DECIDING GAME Anaheim Elks won the third and deciding game of the series with Arcadia Elks yesterday afternoon on the local high school field by the score of 10 to 6. Corpe, the elongated twirler of the Arcadia team, was driven from the mound, Johnson, shortstop, replacing him after the fifth. Hughes pitched a neat game for the locals, holding the visitors to 11 well-scattered hits. Seven costly errors behind him figured in all of the six tallies made by the visitors. Welcome news to the local fans was the fact that Eddie Dunn appeared yesterday to have located him batting eye, grabbing three hits out of five times up. One of them, a triple, which drove in Anaheim's first tally by Captain Buster, was called no good, the base umpire, who was from Arcadia, calling him out for not touching second. After scoring two in the first and one in the third, the locals piled up five in the fifth, on six hits. The visitors attempted a swan song in the ginth, scoring three when a man was hit by pitcher, a double, a triple and two errors. Blenkiron, famous sprinter, of the Vernon Pacific Coasters, was in the lineup for the visitors. First time up he fanned. He singled the second time and the third he stretched a good, healthy single into a double by some fast leg action. The fourth time he failed to get one of his claims to fame from in front of Hughes' outshoot and will carry a blue spot on his knee for several days. Anaheim's lineup was badly shattered yesterday with the absence of Stephens, Ramage, Pendleton and Callahan. With only eight men out in uniform, it was necessary to delay the game a quarter of an hour until Wroten, of the Fullerton Edison team, could be rounded up. Following the contest, Tom Onzo, who claims to have wrested the long distance hiking championship from A REAL BARGAIN Lot 50x135. Enquire at 715 Pythias-st. $750 for cash. NATIONAL GINGHAM WEEK APRIL 22-29 April24-29 is National Gingham Week, and all or nearly all of the local drygoods stores will feature gingham goods, gingham gowns, etc. The multifarious uses of the material will be featured. Gingham is now used for100 different purposes, where years ago it was used for ten or a dozen. House dresses, garden frocks, kitchen articles of various kinds — all are made of gingham, which wears well looks well and is remarkably cheap compared with other goods. Women are thinking now of summer clothes, budding flowers and spring, and at no season is gingham more in demand. Never also has the variety and beauty of gingham been greater. Never has the cloth shown more individual patterns. Stores have been asked to have their saleswomen wear gingham while on duty this week, but this has not yet been decided upon. Read this catalogue of the things made of gingham: Summer draperies, handkerchiefs,a current fad; inexpensive sport hats, made or trimmed with it; cushion covers, collars and cuffs, blouses trimmed with it upholstry for wicker chairs, and other uses too many to mention.
