A few weeks ago Deykin Surprise, a wire-haired terrier, won a championship at Crutft's Dog Show, at Islington, and in the following week another championship at Birmingham. Now it has been sold to an American for $5,000 and saluted recently on the Aquitania ror the United States. J. P. Hall, of Horden, County Durham, who was showing Aire-dale terriers at Crutft's, has sold his Champion Warland Ditto, an Aire-dale, to Mrs. Anita Bandwin, of Santa Anito, Cal., for $5,250. Apart from its use as a show dog, this animal was one of the finest Aire-dale stud dogs. The first dog sold to America for $5,000 was the famous Rodney Stone, which its breeder, Walter Jeffries, sold to Richard Croker.
