ELKS WILL STAGE
BIG CARD TONITE
The Anaheim Elks club will stage one of the best balanced athletic shows at their new auditorium this evening. There will be seven boxing contests between the best amateur boxers now performing in the south, a battle royal between six husky colored boys and a mixed wrestling and boxing match, the first one ever attempted in this part of the country. The program will open with a battle royal followed by a special event at boxing between Dad Rice, steward of the Elks club, and Chas, Golf, secretary. The first preliminary will see Oyster Loaf Joe against Bill Cordes, next Carl Eckart against Babe Orton; semi-windup Bennie Heller vs Young Willie Jackson; double main event, Young Willie Hoppe vs. Johnny Golindo and Kid Louie vs Leonard Lee.
The show is being staged in the interest of the local Elks baseball team to supply them with all the necessary equipment for their coming championship fight for the Elks League Pennant, 1922 season.
The complete program is as follows: Main event, Young Hoppe, Glendale, vs. Johnny Golindo, Fullerton. Main event, Kid Louie, Placentia, vs. Leonard Lee, Denver, Semi wind-up, Bennie Heller, Perris, vs. Young Willie Jackson, L.A. LOSES TO OLIVE 2-0
The Junior high baseball team went to Olive last evening and came home with small end of a 2 to 0 score. Maxwell acted as the umpire. Anaheim was represented by J. Portillo, R. Cromwell, P. Wilson, M. Spencer, H. Bishop, G. Duckworth, C. Alsip, R. Pomeroy and A. Morales.
