SPORT BIG BOXING SHOW AT ELK GYM THURS. What is expected to be the greatest boxing show that has ever taken place in Anaheim will be staged at the Elks' club here on Thursday evening, April 20. A double main event, three preliminaries, a battle royal and one social event being arranged. Leonard Lee, one of the greatest bantamweights ever turned out in Denver, arrived in town today to finish his training for his bout with Kid Louie of Placentia. Lee is a fast slever boy and fought a draw with Earl Puyce, one of the best bantamweights in the country. He has had in all over 100 bouts, losing just two, one against the world's champion, Kid Herman, at New Orleans. Rogers Cornell, the physical director of the Elks' club, who is arranging the show, says Kid Louis, with proper handling and coaching will be one of the best boys in the country in less than a year's time. He and Lee should put up one of the greatest bouts witnessed around these parts. The other main event will bring together Young Hoppe, that sensational lightweight from Glendale, and Johnny Golindo, of Fullerton. Hoppe is going at his best right now, is fast, with a stiff punch in either hand, while Golindo is a real slugger and will make Hope travel at his best to gain the decision. Hoppe is training at Glendale, while Golindo is putting on the finishing touches at the gymnasium in Fullerton. These boys will box at 130 pounds, weighing in at the Elks' club at 3 o'clock on the day of the bout. One of the preliminaries between Oyster Loaf Joe and Bill Cordes, both Anaheim, should have those attending the bouts standing on the chairs as they are both high class sluggers, throwing all science to the winds, and tearing in from gong to gong. It is a case of the man with the best punch carrying off the prize. PLACE YOUR CLASSIFIED ADS BEFORE 13,000 READERS. NEW TODAY R. G. SCHROEDER, Expert Fordson repairing. Any place. Any time. It is a case of the man with the best punch carrying off the prize. Another preliminary will bring together Bennie Heller, that fast hard hitting featherweight from Perris, and Young Willie Jackson, who hails from Los Angeles. The fans should see some fast clever boxing, as both boys are known in their respective towns as speed marvels. Carl Eckart, of Fullerton, a hard hitting lightweight, will take on Babe Orton, a fast coming, light-weight belonging to Billy Darnley's stable. This will be another slugging match, both boys carrying T.N.T. in either hand. A battle royal has been arranged with five big husky colored boys who will represent the different towns in Orange-co taking part. They will all enter the ring at the same time, but the winner will be the last one to leave the ring. The special feature between Dad Rice, the Elks' club popular steward, and Charles Goff, secretary of the local organization, will be a scream. They are to step found rounds to a decision. May the best man win. The show will be open to the public and the proceeds will go to the actual Elks' baseball team for new equipment. The ushers for the evening will be ladies chosen by the committees from daughters of local Elks and there will positively be no smoking allowed in the auditorium where the bouts will be held. It is expected that the auditorium will show a great turning out of the ladies. Special arrangements having been made for their every comfort. Baseball Standings PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE W. L. Pet. O'Connor has established 67 reasons for the barring of films, representing 67 kinds of scenes which must be eliminated from screen plots before they can be shown in English theaters. Here are a few of them: Making young girls drunk. Brutality and torture to women. Excessive drunkenness. Nude figures. Indecorous dancing. Improper exhibition of feminine underelothing. Women fighting with knives. The practice of the American "third degree." Disparagement of the institution of marriage. Prolonged and harrowing death bed scenes. Bedroom and bathroom scenes of an equivocal character. THREE ASK POLICE TO END THEIR LIVES NEW YORK, April 14—Three men seeking death, last night asked policemen to take their lives. Patrolman Whitaker stood at Fifth avenue and Thirtieth street when William Vergo, 44, who said he had no h.e., approached him and said: "I give you $50 to shoot me or lend me your gun." Instead the policeman took him to the lockup. Asked what the trouble was, the man said he wanted to die, that he was tired of life and money. He took $1600 from his pocket and threw it on the desk. He was sent to a hospital. Walking his beat in "Hell's Kitchen," Patrolman Liechtblan was stopped by two men who asked him to fracture their skulls. They said they had come to that part of the city because it was notorious enough. Both were arrested and fined $3 each after telling the magistrate they had been drinking. They gave the names of William Dorrain, broker and Wilfred Dorning, who said he was a banker. Watch field seem to prove that the field has must be scratched and that the next new months will witness new and startling things at the beach field. The Golden De furnished the excitement of the Huntington Beach field by blowing out and partially wrecking things a few days ago. Drilling at 3018, the tools struck a gas pocket. The bailer was hurled thru the crown block, and coming down struck the ground a few feet from the rig and imbedded itself some seven feet in the earth. The Golden Dome has not shown much promise, the blow out puts new hope into the owners and it is believed that a productive sand will be located soon. The Globe Petroleum Co., will drill a well at Huntington Beach. This company leased large acreage when the field first opened and subcased the greater part of its holdings. Tract 32 has been reserved by the Globe and on this property drilling will be started in a few days. Indications point to a big well for W. Jamison at Huntington Beach on the Linoleum factory lease. Drilled to 3678, some 250 feet of rich sand was drilled thru and there is little reason to believe that the Jamison well will be a duplicate or even bigger than the famous Rio Bravo No. that opened this section of the field a few weeks ago. The Machris Brothers are starting their third well at Huntington Beach. The Machris Brothers entered the field less than a year ago and in that time have drilled two wells and developed a 1200 barrel production. Recently the Machris Bros. completed a 1000 barrel well at No. 2. No. 1 is to be deepened and there is little doubt that No. 1 can be made a 1000 barrel well also. The Petroleum Company completed its Porter No. 2 at 3564 and put the new well on production at 350 barrels. Porter No. 2 at 3564 and put the new well on production at 350 barrels. Porter No. 1 complete about six months ago continues to produce better than 300 barrels. The Texas Holding Company now has two producing wells. No. 2 drilled to 3680 came in a 300 barrel well. Judging form the depth and the amount of sand drilled thru this well was expected to come in around 300 barrels or more. The well shows plenty of oil but does not seem to have the gas pressure to bring the fluid out. Plain Dealer for Good Job Printing. The Union Oil Co.'s deep well Hill 1, is showing oil at 4237 and is looking rather good. This well is located in the north side of the field where the big production is obtained at 4000 feet and deeper. The Union redrilled Copeland No. 1 to 3600 feet and the well is flowing at the rate of 200 barrels. The outlook for the Chansler-Canfield Midway to get an oil well at Bradford No. 2 Richfield looks better now than ever before. At 4500 feet this well is showing up strong. Bradford No. 2 is located a few hundred yards north of the Clark Wetzel a duster, but is across the fault line. Niel Anderson has taken over the Richfield-Yorba Oil Co.'s well on a contract to put it on production. Anderson has a way of his own in surmounting difficulties and the Richfield-Yorba will have a 300 barrel well in the next 10 days. The Richfield Yorba Co. has tried to put the well on production for a year or more. Anderson will perforate the 4½ casing from the 3260 to 3390 and take advantage of the sands that neighboring wells are producing from. Should this fail to produce results the well will be deepened. Hard luck continues to follow the struggle the Ridge Oil Co.is making to get production. Drilling a few years ago at 4775 when the 4½ casing parted and dropped. The parting or the pipe means another protected sidetracking job. At the time the pipe dropped the well was looking a little better than at any time here to fore and the mis-hap comes as a keen disappointment. Announcement has been made by Richfield Giant officials that drilling will be resumed on this deep test well at an early date. A statement has been circulated to the effect that the well would be abandoned and those who had put their money turn it could consider it a loss and a little experience. A number of the larger stockholders are anxious to have the smaller holders get a run for their money, and to do this they have durdown and will spend $25,000 in further efforts to carry the well on down into the deep sands and make it a producer. At 3960 a heavy oil was struck and there is reason to believe that a few hundred feet more o phohe will get the required results. He announced he was moving the headquarters of his army from Chuan Chow and was occupying strategic position sin Human province. Make a show down test of its prospects at well No. 1. Drilled to 4095 this well has showed strong evidence of being a commercial producer, the only thing seemingly to stand in the way of it being failure to shut off water. A core sample of the sand on bottom is to be taken. Should the formation show oil in quantity all the top formation will be cased off and the well drilled to 4200 feet. This well has been in the oil lime light as a wild cat for a couple of years and the final outcome will be awaited with a lot of interest.
