C.O.F.C.MEMBERS TOUR PLANTS HERE
Several representative members of the Chamber of Commerce, led by President Harry D. Riley, Vice President Henry Adams and Secretary Malcolm Fraser, re-discovered Anaheim industrially this afternoon, when they paid a visit to the plant of the Anaheim Beef Company, the new Anaheim Laundry Company's laundry, certain fruit packing houses etc.
The visit followed a statement by several prominent members of the chamber, that the industry upbuilding phase of the chamber's work was not being emphasized sufficiently.
The exact and detailed nature of the deficiency pointed out was not announced.
In the course of the agitation, if it could be called that, to know your Anaheim better and extend its industrial scope, the fact came out that certain members of the chamber had not visited some of the most important industrial establishments here.
Even those who had visited them, in years past, must have been re-evaluated as to the city's industrial status, which has been changing. Some plants, particularly that of the Anaheim Beef Company, have been enlarging, and have been improving their methods markedly the past year or two.
The latter plant within two weeks, according to John Ruether, manager, who piloted the party, will have a new killing department for beef, sheep and hogs that in equipment and convenience will compare favorably with similar plants anywhere.
The new unit is the first of several to be constructed, others following within the year. The new building will all be of the same general type of construction, the material being tile.
Alterations also will be made within the existing plant, one result of which will be a capacity of 500 hogs per day compared with 100 at present, with the same force of men.
PART OF JACKSON LOOT RECOVERED
The Santa Monica police are holding articles suspected of being part of the $700 in loot taken from William Jackson's haberdashery store, Sheriff C. E. Jackson said today. The store proprietor has been notified. Herman Zabel, fingerprint expert made the investigation which is partly the basis of clues the police are working upon.
Just what clothing has been recovered, in what condition and how, is not yet known. A young Mexican is under suspicion.
William Jackson was expected to go to Santa Morrica and identify the things today.
The increase will be made possible by the better and larger amount of machinery to be installed. These alterations will be finished within a month.
The plant, while smaller than some others in the State, was found by the visitors to be particularly interesting, because of the variety of operations performed, all of the work being done here, and the general efficiency prevailing. Hair from hogs for brushes, fat for soap, shortening of such high quality that one of the leading chains of grocery stores in the state takes the entire quantity, fertilizer, flat boiled hams—quite different from ordinary hams—and many other products, besides the ones usually thought of in connection with an abattoir—are turned out regularly by the company here.

SLIGHT QUAKE IS FELT IN ANAHEIM
The walls of certain buildings in town were cracked, dishes shaken in pantries and considerable excitement caused by an earthquake felt here as elsewhere at about 8:06 last evening. The quake was the most pronounced, it is said, affecting this city in years. Walls swayed for two or three seconds in an unmistakable manner. The earthquake is understood to have been general in parts of So. Calif. The damage, even in the aggregate, was practically nothing.
CAR. TOBACCO BOYS LOOT
San Diego police are holding three youths, Mark Bowman, 15; Paul Ozment 14; and Royce Vandewater, 16, charged with stealing an auto in San Bernardino and robbing a filling station between El Toro and Irvine en route to San Diego. The escapade followed Bowman's escape from the detention Home in Santa Ana. The car, cigars, chewing gum and cigarettes, are part of the loot which the police seized. Bowman was the ring-leader and the boy who took the car.
