POMONA PRESENTS HAMLET HERE THURS.
Of more than passing interest is the announcement that for the first time in the history of Pomona college, one of their productions will be presented away from that institution. The management of the Fairyland theater announces that tomorrow only, the great Shakespearean play "Hamlet" will be presented at that theater by a talented company of performers headed by Dr. Clyde Sheldon Shepard, dramatic director of the college in the title role.
This is not a motion picture but a very splendid stage production. Reports from the college state that this plan is the best thing ever done by the dramatic players of that institution. Dr. Shepard enjoys the distinction of being one of the best portrayers of Shakespeare in this country, and his rendition of "Hamlet" is superb to say the least.
Much time and expense has been incurred in presenting this play, and the costumes, scenic effects and other paraphernalia matches up with any of the large productions.
This play will be at the Fairyland tomorrow only, and those who wish to see something worth while should be on hand early.

SOMETHING UNIQUE
Distinctly different is the offering of the Belanger Sisters, Gogo and Julienne, those petite Parisiennes who with Jerome Quiroga are to be the feature act on the Meiklejohn and Dunn vaudeville road show which is to be seen at the California Theatre tomorrow. Those dainty misses are well known in the world of musical comedy world and their act is made up of bits of their various successes on the musical comedy stage. With the assistance of handsome Jerome the girls offer fifteen minutes of rollicking, frolicking fun. Their act is most elaborately costumed.
Roy Wilbur, the novel entertainer, does a number of most difficult feats in juggling and all during his act he keeps up a line of chatter that is most amusing.
An audience that sees and hears Jimmy Lyons, ambassador from the Land of Joy, does not know whether to be shocked or amused at his comments on the daily doings of the world but they finally "give up" in howls of merriment for Jimmy is a most unusual sort of monologist and West Central-ave Saturday afternoon. A profusion of pink rose buds in crystal baskets adorned the rooms and tables, where after the game of five hundred a delicious three course luncheon was served. Miss Taylor is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Taylor, and has lived in La Habra for several years and has been on the staff of teachers of the local grammar school for two years. The man in this coming event is Alfred Catland, of Santa Ana and Pasadena. The romance dates back to school days when the young couple were both in the same school in Santa Ana where Mr. Catland's parent, Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Catland reside. Mr. Catland served 26 months on the U.S. battleship Nebraska and made eight trips across the ocean during the war, this service interrupted his studies at the California School of Technology, and his graduation will be at the close of the present term, after which the wedding is scheduled to take place in June. Guests present were: Mrs. Sam Baker, Mrs. Floyd Knight, Mrs. Farwell Hull, Mrs. George Paul, Jr., the Misses Irene Catland, Arvilla has few equals when it comes to creating smiles.
There are very few acts that compare favorably with the offering of the Neal Brothers, Teddy and Tom, who have a routine of harmony singing and dancing that is most pleasing.
Sam Armstrong and Lee Phelps are entertainers de luxe. They sing and play the piano in a manner that will make them favorites with local theatre goers.
On the screen, the feature photo-play to be shown in conjunction with the five acts of vaudeville will be "The Bonnie Brier Bush", a Paramount production directed by Donald Crisp.
