PORTLAND LEAGUE
TEAM MAY TRAIN
HERE NEXT SPRING
Listen to this! The Portland Pacific Coast League baseball club may adopt Anaheim for their spring training quarters next year. Such was the impression given Manager "Duke" Kenworthy of the town and treatment that might be expected here from the visit of his team to Anaheim Sunday, it became known today.
Whereas, Manager Billy Knott had experienced considerable difficulty in getting the Portlanders to agree to trek the 40 miles from their spring quarters at Pasadena to Anaheim for a practice game last Sunday, after the game they were more than anxious to return next Sunday. However, Manager Knott had already contracted with the Riverside Elks and he could not go back or them despite the fact he believes if Portland could have been brot back standing room would have been at a premium at the high school field, in view of the excellent pastime put up last Sunday.
The Portlanders liked Anaheim fine. It was their first trip down this way for many of them and they were more than delighted with the beautiful orange groves and general air of prosperity and alertness of the city and district. When they were taken into the Elks club for dinner, they were simply "knocked out."
Kenworthy told Knott: "Belleve me, boy, you're going to hear from us before we arrange for spring training camp next year. Pasadena's the bunk. It is exceedingly difficult to get teams that can give us real opposition and the city displays little interest in baseball. We even went in the hole when we played an exhibition game with the Chicago Cubs.
Anent the Anaheim club, the Portland manager said: "You've got a mighty good team here for a bunch that plays only once a week. They're all mighty fine fellows and we have

Kenworthy told Knott: "Belleve me, boy, you're going to hear from us before we arrange for spring training camp next year. Pasadena's the bunk. We even went in the hole when we played at exhibition game with the Chicago Cubs.
Anent the Anaheim club, the Portland manager said: "You've got a mighty good team here for a bunch that plays only once a week. They're all mighty fine fellows and we have enjoyed meeting them."
Manager Knott believes the bringing of the Portland club to Anaheim for spring training would be one of the biggest advertising stunts outside of the Valencia Orange show that has ever been pulled off. The team is accompanied by sporting editors of the Portland papers throut the several weeks training which means that the Anaheim date line would be published throuout the Pacific coast and particularly in the northwest every day, as it was Monday morning in connection with the report of Sunday's game.
Knott believes that the C. of G will be able to get behind the proposition to bring the Portlanders here.
Knott believes the decision of the Portland manager will hinge on whether the baseball field in the city park is in shape by next spring.

"SNOWED IN" DOESN'T MEAN "FROZEN OUT"
LOS ANGELES, March 28. Snowed in doesn't mean "frozen out" of the busy world of men and affection more for C. W. Siefert. For Siefert at Camp Sierra, Mr. Siefert has recently installed a sensitive wireless apparatus at the camp, and even if the elements put his regular telephone out of commission he can communicate by wireless apparatus, with places far, far away.
While shut in at the cabin in the heavy storm last month, Mr. Siefert enjoyed daily conversations with his son, Dr. A. C. Siefert, a well known physician of Oakland, who has an apparatus at his home. He also talked with Colorado, Texas and Catalina Island amateur radio operator.
If it's from Witman's it's good.
