LOOK WHAT BRITISH LADIES WEAR AT BEACH These are the fashions for next summer at the beach resorts in England. They are quite chic but we feel that the American fashions for the 1922 season as shown at the Calif. resorts during the winter season will be more daring or more brief than the suits worn by the fair British bathers. 24,000 BBLS. DAILY FROM H. B. FIELD With Oil Operators The Huntington Beach production is getting to be a matter of real pride not only with Huntington Beach operators but with all Southern California. The daily output of this year old INTEREST AROUSED IN BURIED TREASURE PAPEETE, Tahiti, (Society Islands), March 28.—Interest has once more been aroused in the treasure reputed to be buried in the Island of Pinaki, one of the coral islands to the eastward of Tahiti, and a new association has been formed in Tahiti to seek for the treasure. The story is that during the confusion of a revolution in Peru some 60 or more 24,000 BBLS. DAILY FROM H. B. FIELD With Oil Operators The Huntington Beach production is getting to be a matter of real pride not only with Huntington Beach operators but with all Southern California. The daily output of this year old field is now 24,000 bbls. The average per well is running very high. The average runs better than 3000 barrels. The field shows 80 wells on production. To date there has been only two dry holes drilled. The Union Oil Company went down 5000 feet at Newlands No.1 and the General Petroleum 4500 at Community No.1. The Amalgamated Oil Company led the field for new production at Huntington Beach last week by bringing in two wells whose aggregate output is 1200 barrels. Dennison No.1, another deep north side well, was completed at 3945 and started off at 570 barrels. The Amalgamated's second big producer is Miley-Keck No.5. Drilled to 2750 this well started off at 570 barrels and is producing 21 gravity oil. The Eddystone Oil Corporation continues its quest for deep sand production on the north side of the Huntington Beach field. Ashton No.2 is now drilling at 3900. Huff No.1, the Eddystone's first successful well is producing a 125 barrels at 4400 feet. The Pantages-Huntington will be back on production in a few days. Redrilled and cleaned out and the pipe straightened up the well is in the best condition to produce at 2380. The well is expected to return to its old time production of 500 barrels. The Republic Petroleum is scheduled to bring in a well at No.3 that will make the operators sit up and take notice. Republic 3, completed at 3848, is the deepest well in the west side section and went thru 400 feet of rich oil sand, 460 feet of screen pipe was put in to take care of the oil zone. The south-west side of the field has a wonderful well in the Rhodes Oil Company's No.2. This well averaged 2 barrels better than 800 for every day of the past month. The Rhodes Oil Company is scheduled to put a new complexion on the Main street section of the field with a deep sand well at No.1. The cement at 2780 will be drilled out Saturday. The showings previous to cementing justify the looking forward to something big. The Standard Oil Company completed two wells on the Huntington Beach Company's property that are yielding 400 barrels each. Huntington A-14 drilled to 3145 and Huntington B-6 at 2725. The Petroleum Midway has developed a production running better. INTEREST AROUSED IN BURied TREASURE PAPEETE, Tahiti, (Society Islands), March 28.—Interest has once more been aroused in the treasure reputed to be buried in the Island of Plnaki, one of the coral islands to the eastward of Tahiti, and a new association has been formed in Tahiti to seek for the treasure. The story is that during the confusion of a revolution in Peru some 60 or more years ago a church was looted of a rich treasure of gold and precious stone by four men, who succeeded in getting it to the coast, where they buried it in a safe place; afterward making their way to Panama. Having obtained a schooner there they returned to Peru recovered the treasure and sailed to the westward intending to make Australia their destination. The fact that they possessed no papers presented an insurmountable obstacle to their gaining entrance to any port without rigid investigation. So they determined to bury the treasure on an uninhabited island in the Paumotus until such time as they could charter in Sidney a schooner for some alleged trading enterprise and sailing with proper papers return to the island. GUARDS MUSN'T FLIRT LONG BEACH, March 28. — The life guards in the employ of Long Beach have received these orders for the coming summer: "Attend strictly to business"; "No flirting"; "Be properly clothed"; "Give no swimming lessons and don't pay attention to bathers except as is required to enforce beach regulations or rescue those in distress." It's from Witman's it's good. Morse well, the sensation of Richfield, continues to produce close tc 3300 barrels of 24-gravity oil daily. This big well completed at 4340 is now Southern California's second largest producer. The Union's Bell No.1 at Santa Fe Springs, holds first place at 3500. The Whitley Oil Company has been taken over by the Universal Oil Co., of Taft. The terms and arrangements made have not been made public. The Universal Oil Company, one of the large northern field operating companies and is in a position to go ahead with the Whitley property and develop it to advantage. The Whitley Oil and Refining Company has four producing wells aggregating about 250 barrels. Three other wells are in the process of drilling. Edward Stearns field superintendent for the Universal, will have charge of the development work on the Whitley. Development work at Garden Grove and Buena Park continues to go ahead. Drilling at Chaffee No.1, the Garden Grove test well, is now at 5465. The outlook for a well has not Rhodes Oil Company is scheduled to put a new complexion on the Main street section of the field with a deep sand well at No. 1. The Petroleum Midway has developed a production running better than 2500 barrels a day. Two wells responsible for the big increase recently in Smythe No. 1 doing 800 barrels and Towes No. 1 putting 750 barrels into the tanks daily. The Petroleum Midway now holds third place on the Huntington Beach production record. The Western Star Oil Co. Thomas O'Donnell's company, has gone into Huntington Beach. The Western Star is building a rig on the Judd property adjoining the Petroleum's Midway Towers No. 1. The Judd lease is now considered one of the choicest pieces of property in the field. The Walker-Western Oil Company has its first producing well at Huntington Beach. Walker-Western No. 1 completed at 2811 started flowing 350-400 barrels. The oil sand was struck at 2802 and continued for an even hundred feet with scarcely a break. The Triangle Oil Producing Co. has been compelled to perfect its lease on the Dobbins property at Huntington Beach. The company is unable to "put over" the finances necessary to drill. The owner has refused an offer of $8000,000 cash because since the advent of the Rio Bravo's new 500 barrel producer. At Placentia the Wonder Company will go back on its No. 2 drilled to 4500 feet and cement off for an upper sand. Deep water developed at 4500 and prevented the well from coming into commercial production. No. 4 is ready to drill out the cement at 3400 and resume drilling: The Standard Oil Company's deep test well on the Kellogg property at Richfield is now close to 5000 feet. The well showed a lot of sand that carried no oil. The present formation, like brown shale, is not carrying oil either. Kellogg No. 1 comes a year ago is a small producer.
