FULLERTON 4 CARS VALENCIAS SHIPPED THIS WEEK Four cars of Valencias were shipped this week from Fullerton by the Benchley Fruit Co., it was stated this morning. The market is said to be strong. They expect to ship about the same number next week. The Fullerton Mutual Orange Growers, Inc., report having shipped three cars of Valencias this week, week. They are merely shipping as they received orders. The Placentia Orange Growers' Ass'n have made no shipments this week, and do not contemplate any next week, it was stated. Abe Pritchard said that they would probably begin the shipment of Valencias early in April. FULLERTON STARTS ON SWIMMING POOL The first steps toward a plunge and swimming pool for Fullerton on Hillcrest has been taken. The city now has a hole 60 by 150 feet, and about four feet deep. The dirt was taken away to use in the embankment at the city reservoir. The plunge will be made later when the hole will be deepened and lined with cement. BUILDING PERMIT RECORD Already March has broken all records for building permits issued in any single month of any year since the city was incorporated, and there is still another week to go, making it a possibility that the total for the month will double that of any month since the system of keeping building records was established. Building permits issued to date during the month approximate a quarter of a million dollars, whereas the highest reached heretofore was something like $140,000 in August of last year. Irwin have gone to Los Angeles today to attend the meeting of the state realty convention at the Alex-andria hotel. Delegates are expected to be there from various parts of the state. The Orange co delegation will try to swing the next convention to Santa Ana. YORBA PIONEER BURIED Funeral services for Jesus Morales, 85, who recently died at Yorba Linda, were held at 10 a.m. today at the Catholic church in Los Angeles, the body being taken from the Seal funeral parlor. Interment was at Los Angeles. Decedent was one of the old settlers of the Yorba-Richfield district. BIG CROWDS SEE H. S. PLAY "Stop, Thief," was presented again last night at the Fullerton high school auditorium, the second night of the performance bringing, out about as large a crowd as the first night, the auditorium being filled each night. The costumes were very pretty for the occasion. BROTHER PNEUMONIA VICTIM E. L. Jones of East Wilshire-ave has received word of the recent death of his only brother, John W. Jones, of Minneapolis, Kansas, whom he had not seen in 17 years. Decedent was 62 years old, and had been successfully engaged in farming and stock raising in section of Kansas for many years. His death was said to be due to pneumonia, brot on by influenza. PRISCILLA CLUB MEETING Mrs. L. Blyback entertained the members of the Priscilla Embroidery club Thursday afternoon. The rooms were prettily decorated with spring flowers and greenery. Early afternoon was spent with fancy work and conversation, and later a luncheon was served. Membs present were the Mes-dames E. T. Hall, F. P. Wood, Kimber, L. Ames, Boebe, A. Sitton, J. Brown, L. M. Bardiner, L. Blyback. Mrs. Gage, mother of Mrs. Blyback, was a guest of the club. Mrs. E. R. Gregory, and Mrs. J. T. FULLERTON BRIEFSE Mr. and Mrs. J. King left this morning over the Santa Fe for Lincoln, Arkansas. Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Ryan left yesterday morning over the Santa Fe for Elkhart, Ind. The three sections of the Ladies Aid of Community club of La Habra, met Tuesday afternoon at the homes of several ladies for their regular business meeting. A musical concert will be given April 7 at the high school auditorium under the auspices of the Ebell club. Mrs. N.M.Launer will soon leave for Turlock, where she will enjoy a two months visit with relatives. Mrs.Harry Jordan returned last evening from a delightful trip to San Diego, where they visited for several days with Mr.Jordon's uncle, C.N.Bartley.The two men had not seen each other for about 20 years. INTERESTING DEMONSTRATION An unusually interesting meeting was held yesterday afternoon in Old Fellows hall, when two demonstrations were given, viz: how to make and to serve an angel food cake, and the other, how to set the table and serve a luncheon, Mrs. O. S. Compton made the first demonstration, and Mrs. A. Launer, the second. A beautifully appointed table, with floral decorations of jonquils and peach blossoms, served for the six "guests," who were seated and shown the proper manner of serving the food passed. The very delicious dishes were then enjoyed by all present, after the pretty, and property lesson was over. Following the demonstrations several pretty piano selections were given. An important business meeting was feature of the afternoon. At the next meeting of the Home Economics section of Ebell club, a demonstration of how to serve a dinner will be given. About 100 folks gathered in the M. E. church Wednesday evening, the occasion being a reception of welcome for the new pastor and wife, Rev. and Mrs. B. Y. Neal and a farewell reception to Mr. and Mrs. Sechrist. A short time was spent in social intercourse after which a splendid program was rendered, consisting of a recitation by Jack Boughner, a character solo by Walter Moore, reading by Miss Bernice Bacon, followed by Mr. J. Fear of Corona in a character solo, also solo by Miss Olive Gale and instrumental solo by Billie Swain, the program being in charge of Mrs. Ada Lynn. After the program Mr. Elmer Haas on behalf of the congregation made a very appropriate farewell address and presented Mr. and Mrs. Sechrist with a beautiful all linen table set. A feeling response was made both by Rev. and Mrs. Sechrist, after which Rev. B. Y. Neal the incoming pastor was called for a speech and in a few words expressed his appreciation of his opportunity to come as a co-laborer with the people of Yorba Linda, which was received in a very enthusiastic manner by those present. At the close of the program a very delicious luncheon was served by the ladies of the church in the basement the tables being beautifully decorated in green and white color scheme. Kinsman entertained on Tuesday evening for a few friends who are touring California. Cards and music formed the diversion for a delightful evening after which refreshments were served by the hostess.
