After a discussion over the games the ladies were invited into the dining room where a delicious luncheon was served. The table was lovely with its centerpiece of yellow and blue flowers, appropriate to the approaching Easter season, and place cards, of tiny yellow chickens, with yellow baskets of candles and nuts furthered the idea. The Misses Mary Abell and Emma Dunn assisted Mrs. Stone by serving the luncheon.
Participating in the pretty event were the Messames D. C. Lovejoy, J. C. Reese, Benningsdorf, W. M. Varcoe Jesse Black, Eugene Mock, A. Trippett, McGavern, J. E. Dugas, Fred Little, Hughes and the hostess, Mrs. Stone.

The present came from Hawaiian Islands, where Mrs. De Vinney, mother of Mrs. Llewellan is at present visiting her son. A pair of book ends, of koa, the beautiful rich brownish red Hawaiian wood, bears the country's coat of arms. The wood is becoming more and more valuable each year, as the supply is diminishing and growth is very slow. Picture frames in the island are now selling at $10 to $15, wherein they could have been purchased for a song a few years ago.

GRACE CONGREGATION HEARS L.
A. PASTOR
The mid-week Lenten service in Grace Lutheran church last evening was especially interesting. Rev. W. N. Hobberger, of Mount Calvary English Lutheran church, Los Angeles, occupying the pulpit. A solo by Miss Clara Heinze, "Go to Calvary, Oh Sinner," was beautifully appropriate and sweetly rendered.
Rev. Hohberger, who was the overnight guest of Rev. and Mrs. J. H. Peters, is a splendid speaker, and his address was quite equal to a sermon. A text selected by Rev. Hohberger adorns the top of the editorial page this morning in one of the Los Angeles morning dailies, being from Psalms 27-1, "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear."

SAYS CLERGY MAKE
BEST HUSBANDS
LONDON, March 23.—Clergymen are the most desirable husbands of all classes and ranks of men, judging by the marriage statistics compiled by social reformers. This statement was made, incongruously enough, to be sure, by none other than the Rev.W.Major Scott in the Dundee Congregationalist church, in the course of some remarks on marriage.
He said that business men and members of the stock exchange were regarded as less satisfactory husbands. After clergymen came armr and navy officers, then professors and teachers. Authors and journalists, said the deminee, were "satisfactory,"but artists? Really, quite hopeless!
We haven't dared to print a list of standard records like this for a long time because we could not get them in sufficient quantity. The Victor Company is catching up on back orders so we can offer this choice list:

64947—On Miami Shore—Fritz Kreisler.
64817—Beautiful Ohio — Fritz Kreisler.
64913—When You and I Were Young, Maggie—John McCormack.
