WESTER & YOUNG GIVEN $400 AWARD Wester & Young, LaHabra realty operators, were given Judgement for $400 in superior court yesterday in their suit for $1000 on real estate commission from Pinson & Thurber, Fullerton reality men, Judge Geo. R. Freeman, of Riverside, sat in place of Judge Z. B. West, ill with flu. The suit was based on sale of the J. J. Lilley property at Richfield, Wester, & Young claimed they were to receive two-fifths of the $2500 commission, Pinson & Thurber two-fifths and R. O. Goodson one-fifth. Pinson & Thurber were understood to have collected $1000 and Goodson $500. Wester & Young, who claimed to have an agreement with Pinson & Thurber, did not receive theirs, hence the suit, the award being on a basis of two-fifths of the sum collected by Pinson & Thurber. WATER TRIP EAST On April 9th, the Southern Pacific will run a personally conducted special steamer train to New Orleans to be known as the Creol "Special" to connect with the luxurious first class modern Southern Pacific Steamer "Creole" for New York and other eastern points. Special dining car service will be provided on this train with special Southern Pacific menus, specializing on famous French and Creole cooking. The steamer trip from New Orleans to New York is very attractive and considered the most delightful five-day ocean trip in the world. The trip is an innovation and special entertainment features will be provided which will add to make the trip a most enjoyable one. Although the fares will be the same as for trip via the regular all rail routes, considerable saving will be effected on account of meals and berth on steamer being included in price of ticket. In the first grade, Miss Vernon has been teaching those who hadn't the disease in the mornings and in the afternoons had the "whooping cough class" while the building was thoroughly disinfected every evening. If this good weather continues, the Y. L. Woman's club house will in all probability be completed this month. The building is so placed to take advantage of the corner lot. Entrance is on the east side as it was thought parking could be better there. One enters a reception hall off which are cloak rooms. The main room is 32x40 feet. Opening off this so the two rooms can be thrown together with the opening of huge doors, is a banquet room 14x20 which will be used for small meetings. There is a splendidly arranged kitchen opening into this room as well as into the larger one. Cleverly arranged casement windows in groups of five, a nice fireplace, and beamed ceilings are some of the features which go to make this club house a really club home. Four of the family of Rev. Rio Bravo No. 1 at 3612 feet is one of the nicest producers in the field. Rio Bravo No. 1 was formerly the old Guaranty No. 1 and stood idle away out on the northeast side of the field while all the excitement was going on in the south, west and north sides of the field. The new well that makes a lot of territory in the vicinity of Huntington Central No. 2 and the Linoleum factory look good in making 600 barrels of 22 gravity oil. The well is flowing under pressure and is making its production easily, steadily and quietly. This new well is the product of the McKeon Drilling Co., now recognized as one of the most successful drilling companies in the field. Production experts have something to figure on in the Petroleum Midway's wonder well Smythe No. 1. This well was completed a couple of months ago at 3843 and attracted little attention starting off at 250 barrels. However the production has been gradually increasing until now it is up to better than a 1000 barrels. No work has been done on the well and the big increase in production cannot be accounted for. The gravity now 24 has decreased two points seemingly at the expense of the big increased output. Vollmer-Meyer No. 1 the field's record high gravity well, continues to make 29 gravity oil. The Talbert Oil Co. obtained a 150 barrel well by drilling its No. 1 about 40 feet deeper. The completion depth of Talbert No. 1 is now given at 2392. The Talbert Company will start drilling a well on the Hulbert lease in a few days. Plans call for seven wells on this lease. The Standard Oil Co. stopped drilling on the Thompson well at 3497 and is making preparations to put the well on a production test. Nothing very big is expected at the Thompson. Huntington E-4 finished at 2379 is flowing in the sump and doing about a 100 barrels. The United States Oil Corporation gave its No. 1 a production try out at 3350. AN ANAHEIM MAN'S EXPERIENCE Can you doubt the evidence of this Anaheim citizen? You can verify Anaheim endorsement. Ask your neighbor. Read this: J. A. Laffoon, retired farmer, 417 S. Elm St., says: "Doan's Kidney Pills are an old stand-by with me and I don't know how I would have made out without them. I got so bad off with kidney trouble, I could hardly keep going. My back ached constantly and made it hard for me to do any stooping or lifting work. My kidneys were out of order, too. I used Doan's Kidney Pills from Anaheim's Drug Store and they just suited my case. Doan's soon put me on my feet. The backache let up and my kidneys were regulated." Price 60c, at all dealers. It is significant that stores and family residences embrace seventy per cent of the home construction; eleven per cent for two families and nineteen per cent for "multi-families" or apartments, says the California Real Estate Association news department in a bulletin today. At the 17th annual California Real Estate Association convention in Oakland, January 19-21, 1922, the Own Your Home campaign of the California Realtors was announced. Real estate boards in many cities have applied to the state body to partake in the Own Your Home Drive. This is said to be an indication that the tendency is toward owning one's home. A very interesting disclosure of the statistics for 1920 on building activities gathered by the Housing Bureau of the United States Chamber of Commerce, which is just made public concerns the proportions, given in percentages, of the different kinds of family dwellings built and occupied. The Own Your Home conference enthusiastically endorsed the plan of reality boards in every community putting on "Own Your Home" shows as an effective method of removing doubts and questions from the minds of people uninformed as to manner and methods of elements which enter into the construction of homes.
