SANTA ANA WALKS AWAY WITH MEET Keen competition was shown in the interscholastic meet on the local oval last evening between Huntington Beach, Santa Ana and Anaheim, Santa Ana scored 57 points, equal to the combined scores of the other two schools. The Beach boys made 44 points and the Mother Colony lads 12. Cook, the local sprinter, carried away first honors in the 100-yard dash and second in the shot. Cook placed second in the low hurdles and Briggs placed third in the 440. These were the only victories for the local "beveedeeers." Anaheim athletes participating in the different events were: pole vault Stranske, McOmie, Zahl Clayes; high jump, Stranske, Zahl and Clayes; shot, Cook Clayes, Mann and Giese; low hurdles, Clayes; discus, Cook and Gelse; and in the dashes the prospective stars were: mile, Briggs; 100-yard dash, Cook and Clayes; 440, Briggs; one-half mile, Jones and Mann. FULLERTON PLAYS TUSTIN Fullerton high school baseball team was scheduled to play Tustin this afternoon in the second game of the season. Belton Kennedy, as the prettiest girl on the campus at Northwestern university, a prize awarded to her during her college days at Evanston, Ill., is about to be named in a "beauty contest" being conducted at the university. The contest is being conducted by the editors of "The Syllabus," the university's year book, of which Arthur Burch, co-defendant in the murder case, was once advertising manager. It is an annual feature of campus life in Evanston. CRASHERS GALORE FOR SUNDAY GAME The biggest bunch of batting talent ever assembled for an Anaheim team will be on hands Sunday for the clash with the lightning Alexander Glants of Los Angeles. There promises to be so much talent that Manager Billy Knott and Captain Buster Callan are puzzled just how to make use of it. The principal problem probably will be a decision on where to place Art Ramage, who will be back for the first time this year, and Carl Stephens, Tacoma Northwestern Laughter, who has been crashing 'em out for raft. A week ago Sunday Stephens smacked out five safe ones in as many times at bat. Last Sunday he had an off day and only got two in five times up. Ramage always has been a bad man for any style pitching. Ramage's old place is first base. Stephens is a catcher but has been playing Org while Ramage was absent and because Captain Buster is always behind the bat. In the field there will also be a puzzle with Arch Hawkins, Callahan and the two Schrott brothers bidding for positions. Manager Knott could not say today who would start the game on the round. Hughes or Salveson. TRIES AIR BRUSH AND CEMENT GUN A. M. Morrison, contractor, announced today in finishing the six-room modern Stranske house at 608 No. Philadelphia-st... an air brush would be tried out on the painting. "Air brushes are now being used on autos and pianos and I do not see why they cannot be used on houses," said Morrison. "I am sure the results will be of great interest to prospective home builders." Morrison, who formerly represented the Los Angeles Cement Gun Co., has arranged to bring A. C. Hailh, manager of that company, to Anaheim to consider a job on which he plans to try out the cement gun. JAPS ACCLAIM PACT TOKIO, Mar. 3.—News of the ratification by the U.S. senate of the treaty covering cable facilities on the mandated island of Yap was received with great satisfaction in official circles. MAY BUY AT FONTANA The local realty firm of Elliott, Anderson and Allen, took two loads of customers to Fontana yesterday to look over the vineyard land in that vicinity. Some of the prospects expressed themselves as being much interested in the vineyards, and will probably make purchases. Harry Fellinge, Brunswick Phones. Plain Dealer for Good Job Printing. Snarlin Pumas Like Acting for Variety Snarling Pumas Like Acting for Variety Did you ever watch a cage of pumas any length of time? If you did, you'll remember them snarling, snapping and striking at each other constantly. Fact is, pumas are the meanest natured, most spiteful and vicious cusses imaginable when left to amuse themselves. But turn them over to Al. G. Barnes or Miss Nellie Roth, one of the 'scores of women trainers with Al G. Barnes circus, coming to Anaheim. Wednesday, March 15, and you'll see a happy, willing bunch of jungle cat wonder workers doing incredible things at her behest with a right good will. How come? Miss Roth will tell us: "Pumas like almost all other wild animals, love exercise. Nemo, who rolls a big globe about, delights in doing it, although he insists on stopping when the big show band stops. He snarls and spits, of course, but look at the curl of his tail. That means content. He has no reason to dislike acting; it means reward in delicacies, exercise, petting and a change from his cage. He, like all Al G. Barnes animals, has never known unkindness. That shows in his and the other animals' work. I think the public notices it, too."
