Tuesday, February 28, 1922 SPORT CRUCIAL BOWLING CONTEST TONIGHT Tonight at 8 o'clock Harry Riley Studebakers will meet Bill Goodrum's Buicks in what is expected to be one of the hotest matches ever shot on the local drives. Each team will be well represented with rooters all out to see their team smash their way to victory. Stormy Bill Gordon is managing the Buick team. He has Fred James, the vulcanizer, Geo. Flesner, east side rancher, Oscar Schneider and Walter Schneider, both Anaheim Butchers, and Drake of the Buick salesroom. Stormy says he has a mighty good team and is out to beat the fast-going Studebakers. Ned Williams is managing Riley's Studebakers and he says the Buicks have got to shoot some to knock tonight. His line up is expected to be Jimmy Heffron, Portland dynamiter; Dick Logeefil, out of the Studebaker office; Smith, banker; Ambrose, salesmanager and probably Payne and Bruce, out of the repairs. Game starts at 8 o'clock. Bugs Raymond topped City League last night with 578. Fritz Yeorn was a close second with 576, high in the B class, while Steinborn topped the C class with 491. Fanning Candy Co., successors to Tridle & Tride team, copped three from the Dew Drop Inn aggregation while Yungbluths took two from Walter's Jordons. The scores: Walter's Jordans Holmes ... 153 174 140 467 Norstrom ... 155 148 153 456 Parks ... 148 207 114 467 Steve ... 175 164 118 457 EXPECT BIG CROWD OF FANS SUNDAY With a little good weather, the biggest crowd of baseball fans ever seen at the Anaheim high school field is expected next Sunday afternoon when the champion Anaheim Elks take on the Alexander Giants, negro athletes and without question, the fastest semi-pro team in Los Angeles. In fact, the smoked Irishmen could make it mighty interesting for world series contenders as they did recently in a series of seven games for a bunch of leaguers headed by Irish Meusel. Manager Billy Knott stated today the Anaheim lineup would probably be the same as for last Sunday's game. The negroes, playing under the name of Los Angeles White Sox, were the last athletes to claim a victory over Anaheim. That game was played just before Anaheim went north to claim the state Elks title. TRACK MEET POSTPONED The big tri-county track meet of Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, which was to have been held March 4, has been postponed until March 18, owing to the fact that following the rains the track at poly high in Santa Ana cannot be put into shape in time. FOR SALE — Real Estate FOR SALE — Real Estate "MONEY MAKES MONEY" We will submit in the following lines an opportunity for an unusual profit in the soundest and best non-speculative property in existence; a citrus grove. First we wish to go on record with the statement that we have never advertised or designated any property handled by us as a "bargain", "snap", "sacrifice" etc. and furthermore we never will. A client with an imperative need for quick money right now will, in consideration of a quick deal for cash, reduce the price on his thrifty citrus grove better than $1000.00 per acre, a total reduction of one-third less than his best former selling price on the property. He has authorized this deal for a limited few days, a period after which if not sold, it will be withdrawn and no offer below his former selling figure will be considered. This firm has carefully inspected this grove and can state definitely that it passed through the freeze without any apparent damage whatsoever. Its location is unexcelled and buildings and improvements are far above those of the average citrus property. An estimated crop value is placed at $5000.00. Less than $25,000.00 cash will buy subject to a first mortgage, or good securities, first mortgages or part clear property will be considered. Kindly do not approach us on this if you are unable to qualify approximately with the sales conditions outlined above. To any bona-fide, prospective purchaser we will furnish full, concise and definite details and will entertain your proposition and pass promptly on any bona-fide proposal. This is one of these deals that is clean cut, above-board but must be snappy. A real opportunity for someone with money who is able to appreciate values and profits and capable of making a quick decision.
