SPORT Timely Hitting Wins for Anaheim by 7 to 3 Anaheim Elks put up another excellent demonstration of the national pastime yesterday afternoon on the Anaheim high school diamond by defeating Fahy-Fords, of Los Angeles, 7 to 3. It was a fast game and but two errors were made, both by visitors. Salveson again looked mighty good on the mound, permitting but seven hits which were well scattered, and striking out 11 of the tin lizzies. Herb helped to win his own game by batting .500. Is proving a glibralter of strength for the home boys. He keeps the gang peeled up and he handles the bat in crashing style. Yesterday, he got two hits in four up. Bush and Schrott also were even-Stephen hitters yesterday. Anaheim got away to a good start in the first inning with a flashing display of timely hitting. Callahan, leadoff, walked. Pendleton got on when short fumbled his roller. Glenan Callan sacrificed. Stephens crashed out a healthy single. Captain Buster, Bush and Schrott also fell upon Mister Frank's offerings in similar fashion. Result for the inning: four runs, four hits, one error. Fahy Fords AB. R. H. SH. PO. A. E. RECORD YEAR FOR SCHOOL BUILDING The year 1922 will probably be a record year for construction of new school buildings in this county, according to figures gathered today. With Santa Ana having recently voted $250,000 for grammar school purposes, Tustin union high school district ready to expend $250,000 in a new high school plant. Fullerton leaders have declared their intention of putting between $600,000 and $1,000,000 into new high school and junior college buildings within the year Garden Grove union high school having voted $125,000 for high school purposes, and with several other school districts having under way plans for extensive improvements in school buildings, indications are that expenditures will reach a total somewhere between $1,500,000 and $2,000,000. Officials of the Fullerton union high school district are preparing for the next step in seeking a bond issue of $600,000. A conference has been held with District Attorney Alex P. Nelson, who is to handle the legal proceedings for the district. Recently at a community meeting at Fullerton favorable discussion was held relative to the proposed bond issue. It was also stated that a direct tax for $200,000 or $300,000 might be levied for collection during the next fiscal year. Tustin, having settled the question of site, will rush the construction and building of its new high school. Garden Grove, too, expects to have its buildings ready for occupancy next September. Cypress News CYPRESS, Feb. 13.—(Spl.) The farmers are having trouble in preparing their land and planting their crops, on account of too much moisture. It has been several years since the rains interfered with the planting of crops for any length of time, and the farmers are becoming restless. The cold damp weather has retardd the spring for the poultrymen and the dairymen are short on milk production. Early green feed is a failure so far. The price of grain and mill feed is advancing and eggs, butter and milk is coming down. All in all the farmer thinks he has a kick coming. Everyone is feverishly watching the progress of the Standard test well at Buena Park. The local land owners are playing a waiting game. The Lessor Co. is working on extending their lease to a thousand acres. The reports are that they are meeting with considerable success. If the lease is arranged the proposed transfer will take place and a well started within 40 days. We are living ing hopes. The Farmers Gun club is doing extensive improvement work on their property south of Cypress. Elmer Proffer is in charge of grading work which will enlarge the submerged area to about 90 acres. Mrs. C. E. Wilcox is visiting friends and relatives in Fort Worth and El Paso. Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Cox spent Sunday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Leon Carter of Yorba Linda. The Corter and Cox families were old friends and neighbors in Indiana. The Tucker and Wilcox families spent Sunday at the beach. Mr. and Mrs. H. La Rue and son, Mervin, and Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Miller and family motored to Pascadera and to the Devils Gate Dam Sunday. The Cypress Farm Center had a most enjoyable evening at their regular meeting held on the seventh.
