SOCIETY LODGES CLUBS CHURCHES LIVELY CROWD SPENT YESTERDAY IN COUNTY P4RK A JOLLY crowd of the younger set moved to Orange County Park yesterday afternoon. Dancing and other sports such as taking pictures and sliding down the "sled hills" were on the program. The return home was made about dark. With the exception of four of the crowd, the remainder went to the James home, where they spent the remainder of the evening with various amusements. The company included Mr. and Mrs. Fred, Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Foster Chambers, Mr. and Mrs. James Sutherland, Misses Nell and Marie Robertson, Barbara Bishop, Frieda James and Messrs. Hubert Janss, A. B. Spencer, and Marlowe Janss. REGULAR AMARANTH MEETING Liberty Court, Order of the Amaranth, will hold the regular meeting Tuesday evening, Feb. 7, at 7:30, at the Masonic Temple. All members are requested to attend and refreshments will be served. E. L. TAKES TO THE SNOW Members of the Epworth League of the M. E. church reported a most enjoyable time in the snow, when about twenty motored to Mt. Baldy. The snow was about two feet deep in places and snowballing and hiking were features for the day. Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Sutherland accompanied the crowd. A bountiful dinner was served before the girls and boys left for their homes. BOYS HELP PAL IN CELEBRATING 10TH BIRTHDAY DATE MASTER RICHARD CLARK of South street, celebrated his ninth birthday anniversary on Saturday afternoon when he invited a number of his boy friends over for a social time. Various boyish games were played and all took much delight in shooting the Richards rifle to see who had the most correct aim. In the late afternoon the guests joined in with Master Clark to help eat the big birthday cake that was brilliantly lighted with the ten candles, and other good eats were also served. Guests of the afternoon were the Masters Gilbert and Victor Kohler, Jack and Bill Dutton, Otto Marr, Howard Heineman, Francis and Vernon Millar, Gussie Lenain, Herman Stoffel, Timothy Wallace and the host, Richard Clark. FAMILY DINNER PARTY Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Baggott entertained with a dinner party yesterday at 12:30. The dinner was in honor of the mother and sisters of Mrs. Baggott and Mrs. A. Leasa. The afternoon was spent socially. Covers were placed for Mrs. J. Stuchberry, of San Bernardino, Mrs. F. Monohan and Miss Anna Kellar of Glendale, and Mr. and Mrs. A. Leasa; and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Baggott. COUNTY IOWANS PICNIC Orange county native Iowans gathered in the G. A. R. hall, Santa Ana, Saturday to enjoy a mid-winter picnic through a carriage terrace. BALDY Accompanied by their teachers, twenty-five members of the A club enjoyed a trip to Mt. Baldy on Saturday. The party left early in the morning and made a full day in the snow. On the way downward the athletes and debaters stopped at the toll gate where a delicious picnic meal was partaken of. Chaperonos of the day were Coach and Mrs. Harold Youngman, Mrs. Wayne Amack, Misses Irene Mac Lean, Irene Jacques and Lucille Bickley. WEDDED IN ANAHEIM The marriage of Mr. Melvin N. Buckley, of New York, and Miss Irene Lillian Bell, of London, England, occurred Saturday afternoon at three o'clock at the White Temple parsonage, Dr. J. A. Geissinger, pastor, officiating. The couple was accompanied by Mr. Roy Walls, of Los Angeles. They will make their home in Hyde Park, for which place they left soon after the ceremony. CONCORDIA SUCCESS IN L.A. With a program showing splendid tests for music, the Anaheim Concordia was greeted most cordially by the huge audience at the Trinity Auditorium concert last Thursday night in Los Angeles, where local musicians took part in the performance for the benefit of the starving children of Central Europe. The large hall was filled to the last seat and the enormous crowd cheered the Concordia with "Hurrays for Anaheim" for several minutes before the first recitation could start. It was a sweet little song of the old Home Valley with a tenor solo song by Hermann Porner, who has recently come to this town. Both soloist and singer showed intensive study of harmonic and technical and received much applause at the conclusion of each number. The Concordia under the direction of its excellent master of music, O. Rosbach, of Los Angeles, will give a concert in this town next month. ATTEND L.A. EBELL PROGRAM The Misses Minnie Marthena Owen and Nina Myrtle Owen were in Los Angeles Saturday where they attended the program given by the Woman's University club in Ebell club house. During the past week, the Allens and their visitors drove over the inland route to Elsinore, remaining a day, then to San Diego for two days, returning by the coast route. Kathrine Phillips Edson, who as a delegate, represented the citizens west of the Mississippi river, spoke entertainingly of "The Conference on the Limitation of Arms," and quite as well as telling the high lights of the meeting, she told many interesting details such as personal mannerisms of some of the notables, and little human interest stories; both inside and out, of the conference. Dr. G. Bromley Oxnam, a member of the national committee on industrial relations, used for his topic, "Industrial Conditions In Europe Today," and having but recently returned from an extended trip to that country, was in a position to give authentic information. It was the good fortune of many local persons to hear Dr. Oxnam in Anaheim recently, and his ability is recognized. An excellent 12:30 luncheon was an enjoyable feature. BRIDE AND GROOM RETURN Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Messersmith have returned from their honeymoon and are at home on the Messersmith ranch in West Anaheim. Their marriage was an event of last week when the ceremony was performed by Rev. Martz, in Los Angeles. The article was formerly Miss Jessie Anderson, of Santa Ana, and well known in her home town, having been connected with the Rankin Dry Goods company for some time. Mr. and Mrs. M. Boswell and little daughter made a visit to Mt. Lowe yesterday, the deep snow there being the attraction for hundreds of persons. Mrs. S. R. Coate accompanied Mrs. Alice Mills and Miss Edna Mills to Los Angeles today on their return trip to their home in Pasadena, after a pleasant visit here. Mrs. B. A. Dunham, of Pasadena, is here assisting in the care of her new grandson, who arrived in Anaheim Saturday, Jan. 28, but who already is a great pal of his grandmother's. The baby is the son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Grim. Mrs. S. D. McKinstry of Seattle is visiting in So. Cal. and today called on Judge Howard, who was her girlhood friend. Mrs. Mine Martz and her daughter, Mrs. Maude M. Ebeling, have moved from Los Angeles to Anaheim, where they will make their future home. They are located in a home at the corner of Cypress and Helena-sts. Mrs. Ruth Camp Bandini visited friends in Los Angeles over the weekend, and was a guest at a very delightful dancing party. H. H. Moore was the guest of friends in Los Angeles over Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Camp drove to Los Angeles yesterday where they visited with friends.
