KELLEY HEARING IS BEGUN TODAY The accident that was predicted before it happened was depicted today in superior court when Leonard Kelley, 24, of Fullerton went on trial before a jury in Superior Judge Williams' court. The jury was composed of R. M. Jackson, Guy Williams, W. L. Leighy, Mrs. Agnes E. Carroll, Joel Proctor, J. M. Millen, Henry Lopstein, W. H. Kelser, Miss Minnie C. Childs, S. E. Andrews, Congdon R. Cook, T. Z. Howard. Witnesses for the state related versions of the accident at First and Burch-sts., Santa Ana, Sept. 25, when Kelley's National auto, driven by Miss Joy McGlaughly, of Fullerton, collided with a Ford containing C. E. Forester and family of Santa Ana. Kelley is charged with driving on without stopping to offer aid. A. Peterson, motorcycle officer, one of the first on the scene after the accident, told of following Kelley's car away from the scene and finally stopping it when it experienced difficulty in making a turn at the north end of Santa Ana, due to a damaged steering apparatus. H. Farney is the witness who says he predicted the accident when Kelley's car was a block away. He said Kelley was sitting very close to the girl with his arm on the back of the seat. Kelley and his attorneys, Allen & Lyon of Fullerton, were awaiting anxiously for opportunity to present their side of the case. MAJ.-GEN. Center Street NO REFUNDS — NO EXCHANGES FATTY JURY PANEL MAY BE EXHAUSTED SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 12.—Exhaustion of the first panel of jurors without the selection of a jury to hear the evidence in the second trial of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle for man-slaughter loomed as a strong possibility today as the task of selecting a jury was resumed. Of the original 65 in the panel but 20 remained today. Seven were tentatively seated in the box, including three women. Five more were in the box ready for examination today. When the box is tentatively filled peremptory challenges will quickly empty it again. It is believed that few of the seven jurors passed for cause when court resumed today will survive the weeding out process through challenges. Judge Louderback was prepared for exhaustion of the jury panel in his court. He has arranged for the summoning of jurors already regularly drawn and serving in other courts. At the rate of progress the first day, a jury will hardly be finally sworn before Saturday, although the procedure of selection may be expected to be speeded up as the jury box fills.
