SOCIETY LODGES CLUBS CHURCHES TWO DOZEN NEW MEMBERS RECEIVE K. OF C. DEGREES A unusually large class numbering twenty-four, was initiated into the Knights of Columbus last night, when the members gathered for their regular meeting. The first degree work was exemplified by the officers of the local order, who are: W. L. Heinze, grand knight; Paul Bock, deputy grand knight; A. L. Erickson, secretary; C. F. Grim, chancellor; and J. M. Kluthe, warren. Following the regular business duties, a light luncheon was served. On Feb. 15, another class will receive the first degree. District Deputy Homer L. Duffy stated that he would be ready to put on the second and third degree work after the fifteenth. After a short social session last evening, the meeting was adjourned. ILLNESS PREVENTS MEETING The meeting of the Wednesday Afternoon Whist Club was postponed from yesterday to a date next week, on account of the illness of Mrs. Carl Martin, on Garden Grove road, with whom the meeting was to have been held. HOLIDAY WEDDING, SANTA ANA Ralph Charles Scally, son of Mr. and Mrs. S. J. Scally, of East Cypress street, was united in marriage Saturday afternoon, Dec. 31, with Miss Doris May Stewart, of Santa Ana, Rev. John Oliver, of the First M. E. church, officiating. The bride and groom were both members of the Santa Ana high school, class of 1920, and it was in school the romance had its beginning. After their return from a wedding journey of several days' duration they will reside in their new home in Anaheim, recently erected by BREATH OF SPRING AT SIXTEEN CLUB LUNCHEON PARTY The Sixteen Club members were the guests yesterday of Mrs. R. B. Herman at a luncheon and games. The suggestion of spring was indicated by the fragrant and beautiful violets with which the table was decorated, and ferns about the rooms. Covers were laid for sixteen ladies, the full membership, place cards marking each place. A delicious three course luncheon was served at one o'clock, over which the guests related holiday pleasantries and visits. The afternoon was given over to cards, and when games were completed, Mrs. John Cook was holding highest score, Mrs. A. D. Erickson, next, and Mrs. Herman, third. Each was awarded a pretty prize. Members of the club and their guests acting as substitutes were the Meadames J. Kellenberger, John Cook, Eden, Sophie Stock, A. V. Vall, A. Erickson, M. E. Canby, H. T. Hathaway, E. Brus, Fred. Peck, A. Nowatney, J. E. Baker, L. Z. Kroeger, W. J. Sackett, Dahl and the hostess, Mrs. Herman. GUESTS AT SANTA ANA WATCH PARTY Miss Ethel Wiley and Mr. Fred Bolz, of Anaheim, were guests at a watch party held at the G. W. Stinchfield home near Santa Ana. The young people of whom there were several, enjoyed games and music, and after the New Year had been welcomed with blasts from tin horns and jingling of bells, refreshments were served. Jack Morgan won the prize in the games of rook. GRADUATE-MARRIES A wedding of interest which occurred New Year's eve was that of Miss Virda Blackmore, of Garden Grove, and Mr. Clarence W. Trotter, of Santa Ana, the ceremony being performed in Los Angeles. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Blackmore, of Garden Grove. She is a graduate of Anaheim high school, class of '19, and has many warm friends here who will receive the news with delight and extend best wishes. Since her graduation she has been employed in the offices of the Liggett-Bemis company, and has been a valuable employee. Mr. Potter is the son of Mrs. Elizabeth Trotter, and is a prosperous young rancher. He enlisted in the navy during the war and saw service in Japan, the Philippines, and Russia. Broadway, entertained the members of their neighborhood club last evening with a five hundred party. At the end of the game it was learned that Mr. and Mrs. Zitzman had carried off the honors. In the latter part of the evening, light refreshments were served. Members playing were the Messrs and Mesdames E. Zitzman, B. J. Dresser, H. Elker, A. Schulte, B. Dauser, and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Borth. EXECUTIVES OF P.T. ASS'N. MEET Going to the home of Mrs. Austin, the executive committee of Anaheim Parent-Teachers' Ass'n; held a meeting yesterday afternoon, to make plans for regular monthly meeting. This occurs next Tuesday afternoon in the Central school building. The time will be given to discussion of "Thirteen Dont's for Mothers," and the leaders selected are Mrs. Chamberlain, Mrs. Goodale and Mrs. Smith. F. McClellan was held Sunday at the home on Elm street, all the children being present. The rooms were appropriately adorned with holiday trimings and the happiness of the occasion was apparent on every face. The honorees were, congratulated and toasted by the company, while seated about the bountiful ladened table. Late in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. McClellan were presented with a handsome leather davenport, the gift of their children. The ceremony uniting the estimable couple was performed in their "back east" home in Missouri, where they passed the earliest period of their wedded life. They have been residents of Anaheim for twenty-three years, however, and are parents of several native Californians. Helping them enjoy the occasion were the Messrs and Messdames G. B. Halley, F. J. Nemetz and J. L. Johnson, of Los Angeles; R. W. McClellan, Ellen and Virginia McClellan, R. W., Jr.; and Homer McClellan, and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Koch and son, Everett, of Fullerton; Lora McClellan, Mrs. C. E. Adams, Miss Laura Mull, Iris McKinney, Bill Stocks and Frank Bose, of Santa Ana. BATTERY CRAFT AT CHERRY BLOSSOM The regular monthly meeting of the Battery Craft, a division of the Orange County Trades Ass'n., was held last evening at the Cherry Blossom, the supper preceding the business meeting. The attendance was good and the meeting thoroughly interesting and beneficial. PLAY CARDS AT EVANS HOME Mrs. Leonard Evans was hostess yesterday afternoon to a small company of ladies who gathered to pass a while over cards. The meeting was most informal, although most interesting and the games energetically played. Light refreshments were served later while the ladies talked over the finer points of the game. ATTEND K.P.INSTALLATION NEED $37.50 MORE FOR WIDOW'S HOME An appeal is made to those who enjoyed a bountiful Christmas, as so many in Anaheim did, to come forward with a subscription toward the home which is needed for the widow Olaga, who, with five fatherless children, are living in a poor little, unlighted shack in the rear of a lot on East Santa Ana-st. But $27.50 more is needed to make the building fund complete, and a small offering from several persons would make the little family happily and comfortably housed. Hantover reported that besides the merchandise, valued at $960, the store bandits took $450 in cash. C. Berry. The table carried holiday adornment and covers were laid for fifteen. Poinsettias were placed at advantageous points about the rooms. A jolly good time ensued, it being a reunion of the families of the three sisters, Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Point and Mrs. Applegate. The party wound up at the California theatre where they saw Jackie Coogan in "My Boy." The company of relatives consisted of the honorees, Mrs. Waltz and son, Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Adams, Mrs. Inez Point and daughter Mae, of Los Angeles, Mrs. Mary Reed, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Berry and daughters, Eva Dorothy and Alice; Ray Adams and M. L. Todd, and Mr. and Mrs. Applegate. MRS.
