SOCIETY LODGES CLUBS CHURCHES HEARTY WELCOME FOR NEW YEAR AT McKIM HOME REPORTS of the delightful Watch Night parties still come in, and among the nicest ones was that given at the J. E McKim home, 614 East Chartres street. Many games were played, among them a flower guessing contest, in which Mrs. Ray Evans was the winner, and another, a game of New Year's resolutions, this being won by Mrs. Roy Carmichael. Upon the stroke of twelve, a rapping was heard at the door, and upon answering, there stood Master New Year, all smiles and happiness, asking to join the party. He was enthusiastically received and heartily welcomed. It later developed that Mr. McKim had impersonated the New Year. After the noise of welcome had subsided, refreshments were announced and music later enjoyed. Guests of the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carmichael, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Noble Summerville, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Abbott, the Misses Ella Atkins, Ethel Atkins, Marjorie Atkins and Reed Summerville and the host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. John McKim. Bonnat was the honoree, and Mr. Bonnat the host. The occasion was the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Bonnat and her husband had invited several of their friends in for the afternoon. They came in a few at a time, thus Mrs. Bonnat suspected nothing. Cards were played until someone suggested that all go to the Elks' club house to see what was in progress. After wandering around for a period of several minutes, they were met by the steward and he offered to show them a beautiful table in the private dining room that was set for a dinner party. When Mrs. Bonnat entered the room, the lights were flashed on and to her complete surprise the table was laden for her and the guests. A magnificent floral piece formed the centerpiece. A most delicious six-course turkey dinner was served, covers being laid for Mr. and Mrs. V. J. Bonnat, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. V. W. LaMont, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schneider, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Davey, of Long Beach, and Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Bonnat. After the dinner, dancing was enjoyed and then the guests returned to the Bonnat home in the Colonial Apts. Upon their return thoughts were turned to playing five hundred and this was continued until a late hour. Mrs. Bonnat was the recipient of many pretty reminders of the occasion. The guests departed for their homes in the late evening, all feeling that Mrs. Bonnat was complimented with the most complete surprise and that Mr. Bonnat a most gracious host.
