SHETTLER of Palm street, formerly of Bellville, Ill., entertained Saturday night with a watch party, the greater number of the guests formerly being townspeople from "back home." Among the company were two young men from Bellville, who are touring California. The Christmas decorations and tree had been left to make the rooms more cheery for the arrival of "Master 1922." and a merry greeting he was given. Just before the stroke of twelve the guests were presented with noise-making gifts and on the new year was ushered in clamorous greeting was given him. Midnight supper was served, the hours before having been enjoyed with games of several kinds, and music, as well as recounting happenings in the old home. Counting the ties of friendship and starting 1922 together were Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Los Angeles and Sycamore, recently completed, was the social success of the season. Fully 800 beautifully gowned ladies and Elks attended, the affair being informal. The entire inner building was beautifully decorated with palms and ferns, the banquet room being particularly pretty with its graceful trimming and the beautiful centerpieces on the fourteen tables. Much pride was felt as the Elks escorted their friends about the building and heard their exclamations of delight and admiration of the lovely home. The banquet was served at 9 o'clock, and consisted of a four-course menu. Fellinge's orchestra did themselves proud on this occasion, as they furnished the music for the ball. For the pleasure of those who did not care to dance, the card rooms on the upper floor were thrown open and a large number enjoyed this privilege. Another orchestra furnished music for the evening on this floor, and a program of vocal numbers also was rendered. The membership of Anaheim Elks. No. 1345, contains 904 names, and the organization is planning some very nice social affairs in the near future, to diversify their usual activities. The entertainment committee Saturday evening contained the names of L. A. Lewis, O. W. Heyling, H. E. W. Barnes, Jr., Wm. Knott, C. W. Blattner, A. H. T. Osburne, and others.
