Store Hours, Except Sunday Special Appointment 8 to 12—1 to 5:30 By Request INTEREST GROWING IN NEW MAXWELL No better testimony of the worth of any manufactured product can be found than the zeal with which dealers and local representatives in various communities show their desire to represent the article. In automotive circles every new model presented to the public is first given the acid test of its worth by being privately shown to representative automobile men from various dealer concerns throughout the territory. The verdict that these critical observers pass on the new car is one that really decides its standing in trade circles for the coming year, as these men know values and see a great many points in a car and its construction that the less critical buying public overlook. It has, therefore, been a source of considerable pride of officials of the Union Motors, Inc., that automobile dealers from all parts of Southern California have unanimously passed a most enthusiastically favorable verdict on the new series of the Maxwell. This favorable comment started at the time of the first private showing of the new models before their public announcement and has increased until it is now at flood tide. Dealers from every town in the southern part of the state have visited the Union Motors, Inc., headquarters and scores of applications for dealerships have been received by George Pearson, manager of sales for Union Motors, Inc. Not since the earlier days of the industry, when changes in models were regarded as real events, has the same interest been shown as in the display of the new series of the Maxwell," declared Mr. Turton, of Tucson & Lumsdon, local agents. Special stress, naturally, has been laid on the pronounced beauty of the new series and marked impression made by their completeness, particularly the attention to detail which is exhibited in the interior fittings of the four passenger coupe and sedan," stated Turton. PORT BOARD'S PLAN FEASIBLE, SHOWN "The action of the flood waters at the mouth of the Santa Ana river during this flood," said L. L. Shaw, president of the Orange county harbor commission, "is a complete demonstration of the feasibility of the plan carried out by the commission. "There was no water at the dam at Bitter Point. This dam was put across the channel that was formerly used by the river. "The water was eight and a half feet deep and flowing to sea at the rate of four miles an hour when I visited the outlet Wednesday. There was no indication of a let-up in the success of the outlet during high water from the Newport drainage ditch came down outside the east bank of the channel, and flowed into the main channel a few rods from the P. E. bridge. "When a controversy was under way here several weeks ago about the success of the works at the new river mouth, I said that there was no reason for discussion as the proof." DOG'S OWNER DENIES CHICKENS WORRIED Another step in the $2,000 "dog-slaughter" damage suit being waged in the superior court by M. L. Simms and A. J. Fogler, of Westminster, had been taken today with Simm's answer to Fogler's cross complaint. Simms originally demanded $2,000 actual and exemplary damages from Fogler because the latter shot a valuable Airdale dog belonging to Simms. Foggler retorted with a cross complaint for $1 actual damage because, he said, the dog trespassed on his premises and worried his rabbits and poultry. To the $1 claim, Foggler added an additional $2,000 for exemplary damages. In his answer Simms denies the trespass charge and objects to an award of damage to Fogler.
