SOCIETY LODGES CLUBS CHURCHES XMAS SERVICES AT ST. BONIFACE XMAS MORNING BEAUTIFUL and impressive will be the services at the early morning mass at St. Boniface church on Xmas day. The masses for the day will be solemnized at 5, 7, 8, and 10. At five o'clock Marzo Mass in G will be rendered. Preceding the mass, the male quartet of St. Boniface church will sing, "Silent Night." The quartet is composed of Messrs Porrier, Eager Effer and Reske. Offertory, tet is composed of Messrs Polier duet, Mrs. Fisher and Mr. Reske, assisted by the chorus, the personnel of which is: sopranos, Mrs. Efker, Misses Carter, E. Donnelly, C. Dresser, C. Ricker; altos, Mrs. Ray Fisher, Miss Rose Donnelly; tenor, Messrs. Polier, Effer, Eaker, Syre, Salschneider; bass, Messrs Reske, Bender, A. Backs. Mass soloists will be Miss Carter, Mr. Fisher, Messrs. Effer, Eager and Reske. The directoress and organist, Miss Marie Rimpan. At the masses of eight and ten, the Children's choir, under the direction of the sisters of St. Joseph's Academy, will render Christmas hymns. Ingalls, San Diego. PRETTY WEDDING IN SALEM CHURCH LAST EVENING In the presence of about 200 friends and relatives, Miss Lillian Louise Dumke of Anaheim, and Mr. Raymond I. Potter, of Orange, were united in marriage last evening at five o'clock, the ceremony being performed by Rev. R. H. Doescher in the Salem Evangelical church. Decorated by the friends of the bride, the church was a beautiful place. Over each aisle an arch of flowers was erected, and from a large arch in the center, just before the altar, was suspended a green floral bell, under which the young couple stood to take their vows. The pews along the aisles were also hung with ferns and roses. To the wedding march from Lohengrin, played by Miss Edna Hochuli, the bridal party entered the auditorium. Rev. Doescher leading, followed by the groom and his best man, Mr. Alvin Seilwert. From the other aisle came Miss Cora Korn, of Santa Ana, wearing a blue organdy; Miss Alice Pannier, in apricot organdy; and Miss Mary Lasch, maid of honor, in orchid organdy. The three young ladies carried bouquets of pink Ophelia rose buds. Mr. Sam Betz and Mr. Walter Hochuli served ushers and approached the altar from the aisle opposite the bride's maids. Little Phyllis Zimmerman, carrying a yellow basket of rose petals directly preceded the bride, looking very sweet in her fluffy yellow organdy, with yellow bow. Miss Dumke, who is a charming blonde, was beautiful indeed in her rich gown of white satin with soft trimmings, wearing a shower veil, caught with orange blossom in the throat. He in shower tume. Her bouquet of bride's roses, in shower effect completed her costume. Before the ceremony Mrs. Arthur Kemper sang "Thou Art Like Unto a Lovely Flower," and later, "I Love You Truly." Miss Hochuli accompanying on the piano. The single ring ceremony was used. An informal reception was held in the church vestibule, after which the company repaired to the church hall for the wedding supper. There the guests were privileged to view the many lovely gifts. Among the more substantial ones was a check for a round thousand dollars, from the parents of the bride. After supper the young couple disappeared, entirely eluding their attentive and solicitious friends, and left on a honeymoon journey. Mrs. Potter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Dumke, and is well known in Anaheim, where she attended A. U. H. S., later becoming a nurse. The groom is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. N. U. Potter, of Orange, is a Legion man, having been in service in the world war, and is an enterprising and splendid young man. After January first they will be at home in the pretty bungalow which the groom has built on Van Bibber avenue, Orange. According to tradition which young people are told is infallible, Miss Edna Hochuli will be the center of interest in a similar affair within the year, for it was she who caught the bride's bouquet. MISS REA LEADS MISSION CLASS Mrs. T. S. Grimshaw was hostess yesterday afternoon to the ladies of the Mission study class of the Presbyterian church, under the leadership of Miss Kate Rea. The topic for study was India, and Miss Rea gave a talk of most instructive kind. Being a teacher of history for several years, she was able to make the lesson even more interesting than usual. There are about twenty-five members in the Mission class, but owing to the inclement weather not all were present. The meetings are held each Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Grimshaw, and always of deep interest. BRIDGE CLUB WITH MRS. ADKINS The lunch on bridge club was entertained yesterday by Mrs. Grace Adkins and although the weather kept several of the regular members at their homes, the tables were filled and th games were thoroughly interesting. Prizes were won by Mrs. Adkins, first; Mrs. Hartung, second, and Mrs. Clayes, third. An excellent luncheon was served at one o'clock from a prettily appointed and seasonably decorated table, this feature, as usual, preceding the game. "DOUBLE L" IN REUNION Mrs. Arinur Shupkey was a guest at the home of Miss Maude Lindsey Tuesday evening, when she entered the "Double L" club at her home on East Third street. Gathering before the open fire, the lights were extinguished and a shower of gifts was experienced. Hastily relighting the room, packages were opened and many were the exclamations of delight which the contents induced. After a time of visiting and exchanging Christmas secrets, dainty refreshments were served by guests which included Mrs. Shipkey, Miss Eleanor Loescher, of Richfield, and the Misses Elsie Williams, Marguerite Galbraith, Nora and Lillian Lykke Jennie Pollard, of Santa Ana, Miss Elza Batterman, and Mrs. James Lewis, of Orange, and Miss Hughes, a guest of the club. SURPRISE DINNER PARTY FOR SON Giving her son a surprise to mark his eighteenth birthday anniversary, Mrs. Albert Andrews, of Garden Grove road, invited in a few friends last evening for dinner, and notwithstanding the rainy weather, no dampening affect was noticeable to the pleasure of the occasion. The date was also the birthday anniversary of one of the guests, Mrs. Harry Blackburn, of Santa Ana, who, with Mr. Blackburn, Miss Frances Fuller, of Fullerton, the honoree and Mrs. Andrews, formed the small but congenial party. An excellent three-course dinner was served at 6:30, the pretty birthday cake being the piece de resistance of the desert course. The evening with music and games was a fitting close to a very nice dinner party. CELEBRATES TWO BIRTHDAYS Mrs. Louis Henning entertained a company of friends in compliment to her daughter Martha, and her son Henry, the occasion being a surprise party for their birthday anniversaries. Seasonable decorative features were used, scarlet poinsettias with green intertwining, being the attractive combination. Music was enjoyed until late hour, when a delicious luncheon was served. The honorees received many pretty and useful gifts as souvenirs of the occasion, from their guests, who included Mrs. Plegel, Mrs. Heffern and daughter, Marie, Mrs. Christensen, Mrs. Humphreys, Mrs. Schultz, Mrs. Karloff and daughters, Elsie and Bertha Karloff, Mr. and Mrs. J. Newman and daughter, Dorothy Tinie Grussing, Mrs. Van Hagen and the honored guests, Martha and Henry Henning and their mother, Mrs. Louis Henning.
