BANDINI PET. CUTS CEMENT AT 3602 FT. Whittier and Santa Fe Springs The Bandini Petroleum is scheduled to drill out the cement and tests for water today. Cemented thru the perforations at 3602 a job is expected, and with the water shut off a producer is practically assured. The Central Oil Co. is developing the old field at Whittier rather heavily for a small company. Four wells No. 66 at 2200, No. 67 at 1975, 68 at 2635 and No. 72 at 45$ feet are drilling. At 2985 the So. Calif's Sanderson No. 1 continues to good enough to predict a producer within the next 100 feet. The drilling is in brown, sandy shale and the formation is carrying gas in quantity. The Whitley Oil Co. at 3375 struck a light sand in No. 6 that carries some gas and oil colors. Drilling deeper on No. 5 is in progress and the 6-in. is being drilled by at 2455. The outlook at the Standard Oil Company's Garden Grove well is a little better than it has ever been before at close to 4800 feet. However the formation is the only encouraging thing, the brown shale. There seems to be little hope for commercial production now at Garden Grove. The La Habra Midway has gotten underway again, and is drilling at 1925 in brown sandy shale. Under reamer cutters breaking off the falling in the hole has blocked progress for a week or more. TO ELECTRIFY ROADS Sweden is planning to electrify the state railways between Stockholm an Goteborg at a cost in excess of $16.-000. AWAIT STATE ORDER ON CROSSING TRACKS The Crown Stage today was awaiting arrival of an order of the state railroad commission directing that all automobile passenger stages come to a full stop before crossing the tracks of any steam or electric interurban railroad. The order provides that the stop must be made not less than 50 nor more than 75 feet from the nearest railroad over which the highway crosses. After coming to a full stop, the driver of the stage is required to look carefully in each direction for approaching car or train and not to start his stage until he has ascertained that there are no cars or trains approaching the crossing in either direction. The order does not apply to the operation of passenger stages in crossing thetracks of street railroad within municipalities. As the commission has no jurisdiction over the operation of school busses, taxis and rent cars, they are not included in the order. "It is a good order," declared Benn W. Porter, manager of the Crown Stage. "As a protection to passengers on our line we have for the past year required our drivers to slow down and go into low gear when crossing railroad tracks." PRIZE FOR BUILDER In France a prize of about $5000 is awaiting the builder of the first helicopter to rise vertically from the ground to a height of eighty feet and descend safely. USED WITH HYDROGEN Japan has eight plants which harden whale, fish and some vegetable oils for soap making with hydrogen cheaply obtained by the decomposition of water by electrolysis. AMAL. Incorporated 312 DEPARTMENT STORES 225 W. Center St., Anaheim AMAL. SPEEDS UP KAMMERER WELL Richfield The Amalgamated Oil Co. speeded up the drilling on Kammer No. 1 and this week's log shows 2500 feet. Tompson No. 1 a recent completion at 3052 is a disappointment. Coming in at 400 barrels it dropped to 150. Breen No. 2 is testing for water at 3000, and Bayha No. 1 at 2500. At almost 4300 feet the United Oil Co.'s Clark well is making hole and is showing just enough to lend encouragement. Merchants Petroleum No. 2 now drilling at 3000 feet is in brown shale and starting to show some strong colors. Merchants Petroleum No. 3 drilling under Keck's direction is at a 1000 feet and in sandy shale. The Chansler-Canfield Midway Oil Co. has four wells underway in the Richfield district, Bradford No. 3 is testing out for water at 3908. Bradford No. 4 at 3165 is in hard sand showing oil colors. Bradford No. 6 at 1365 is in hard sand. Richfield No. 3 is drilling at 2600. The Pacific Oil Field's Ltd. a company organized a year and a half ago is spudding in and starting to drill at Richfield. About 300 feet of hole drilled will be cased off with twenty inch stove pipe. While reaming down and putting the hole in readiness for the production string and make a test the pipe stuck in the Petroleum Midway Richfield-Yorba and to date resists all efforts to loosen or to get up or down. The situation looks kind of bad Drilled to 4805 feet the well has showed up rather good at times and the Petroleum Midway is anxious to get in the screen pipe and make a real production test. Standing plugged from 4214 to 4160 the Richfield Giant await orders. There is reason to believe that the Richfield Giant will go deeper. Everything is in readiness for the Richfield Yorba's deepened well to go on production. Drilled to 3447 the 3-in. liner and screen pipe are in and the well washed down is ready to ball in for production. There is reason to believe that the Richfield-Yorba will be a 250, or possibly a 300-barrel well. With only 15 feet more to go to reach the 4600 mark, the Ridge Oil Company's No. 1 is showing a quaint feature. Butterworth Makes Drilling Record Santa Fe Springs The Amalgamated Butterworth No. 2 is drilling at 1875 and is making a record run for hard drilling. Rigging up on the Deluge lease is underway and drilling will start in a few days. The Central Oil Co. has completed rigging up on its tank farm property and is about ready to spudd in. The Chansler-Canfield Midway according to the announcement made last week has retired from the Santa Fe Springs field, turned all its properties over to the General Petroleum to be developed for fifty per cent of the production. The arrangement is one of the best, and insures the Chansler-Canfield half the profits of the developments minus the worry and expense. The General Petroleum has gone right to work. No. 1 is about to spudd in and three rigs are being built for additional wells. If things go according to schedule the Fullerton Oil Company will spud in today at Burmudey No. 1. The Nevada-Ventura Oil Company drilling at 1400 feet has had nice drilling since starting and is in brown sandy shale. This concern is looking for production much shallower than the field has shown so far and may set pipe at about 2600 feet. The Petroleum Midway started drilling on the Bell Community lease at Los Nietos Saturday and the log now shows 700 feet. At 1785 the Scientific Oil Co. drilling a test well at La Mirada is in blue shale. No showings of any consequence have been encountered as yet. With one well the Brown-Kellar, close to 3000 feet, the Standard has six more drilling and will prove up in a short time a big district at Santa Fe Springs, Long Beach Trust and Savings No. 1 is at 2350, Hepler No. 1 is down 500, Pacific Clay Pipe No. 1 is drilling at 2200, South Whittier Community No. 1 spudded in and No. 2 is rigging up. The Wolfskill well shows a 1000 foot hole. The Shell Company has about completed the rigging up work at Golay No. 1 and will spud in there before the end of the week. The Wilshire Oil Co. is fixing up the boilers and doing rigging up work preparatory to resuming work AMAL. TO CONTROL MILEY-KECK CO. Huntington Beach Ahe Amalgamated Oil Co. has purchased 51 per cent or the controlling interest in the Miley-Keck Oil Co. All weil drilling by the Miley-Keck Co. pass into the hands of the Amalgamated. The Miley-Keck Co. as a company goes out of existence. E. J. and W. M. Keck dissolved interests a few weeks ago and Miley is to organize soon the Royal Oil Co. to take care of his interests. Keck as an operator retires and henceforth will be giving his entire time and attention to contract drilling. Amalgamated development work at Huntington Beach this week includes Dennison No. 1 riggin gup, Fowler No. 3 drilling in the shale at 3450, Huntington No. 6 at 3675 in hard shale, Huntington No. 7 rigging up and Pierce No. 1 building rig. Drilling at 2500 feet and with 90 feet more to go before setting the 10-inch the Argonaut Oil Co. will soon have its third producing well Johnston No. 1. Turley No. 1 shows 3000 feet and is in sandy shale. The Bolisa Chica Oil corporation has abandoned the idea of getting a shut off at 2100 and drilled on to 2365. At this depth a rather good looking first zone sand was struck and the 8-inch will probably be set soon. Edens Syndicate No. 1 is drilling out the cement at 2302 and will be making a water test to-morrow. This well will be on production before Christmas if all goes good. The interest of the north side of the field now centers in the outcome of the Eddystone's deep Huff well drilled to 4367 feet. The cementing was done at 4361 and with a shut off the drilling into the oil sands will be watched with great interest. The production of Davenport No. 1 fall off to 200 barrels. Davenport No. 2 is drilling out the cement at 2615, and No. 3 is rigging up the rotary. Ashton No. 3 drilled out the cement at 3746 and is testing for water. At 3980 the formation in the General Petroleum's Community No. 1 is a hard shell. The best that the well has ever shown is a little gas and a few colors. The impression was gained today that the G. will labandon this well soon。 Standing plugged from 4214 to 4160 the Richfield Giant await orders. With only 15 feet to go to reach the 4600 mark, the Ridge Oil Company's No. 1 is showing a quantity of gas and an appreciable showing of oil. The outlook now appears quite encouraging. The Standard Oil Co. for the first time in two years has only two wells actually drilling at Richfield. Kraemer 2-16 at 4350 is showing lots of oil and gas and will probably be another big well for the Standard and Sam Kraemer. Kraemer 2-17 stands cemented at 3940. Kellog No. 2 deepening is close to 4000 feet in hard sand. The Selby-Root-Hogue Oil Co. overcame a big difficulty at No. 3-6 and set the 8-in. at 2896. No. 7 the only drilling well now running is at 2875 in hard sand. Selby-Root-Hogue production now runs as follows: No. 1, 175 bbls; No. 2, 400 bbls, and No. 5, 175 bbls. At Wents Syndicate No. 2 the log shows 2545 feet, three hundred feet of hole being made during the past week. The Wonder Co. Ltd, started well No. 4 last week, and the hole now PROTEST ENGLISH BARS CONFERENCE "More than three quarters of all routine reading matter under Washington date-line is of British origin," says Edward F. No. 3 at 3077 is standing idle. At 4305 feet the Union Oil Company completed Chapman No. 19 and brought the new well in a three thousand barrel producer. The oil sand was struck in this well at 3-868 and was still running when drilling stopped at 4305. Three other wells Chapman No. 5, at 4196, Chapman No. 11, at 3427, and Chapman No. 14, are all in the oil sand and will be coming in soon. Chapman No. 20 set 10-in. at 3382. No. 1 is wavering some on production, running all the way from 3 to 5 hundred. No. 2 is holding steadily at 875, and the big well No. 6 stands consistently at 1400 barrels. Other Union developments in the Richfield district includes three wells drilling on the Thompson-Goodwin, one well on the McFadden, one on the Dickson, one well on the Yorba, two wells on the Coyle, two wells on the Stern, two wells on the Ayers-Parsons, two on the Shanklin, one on the Dorsey and one on the Yorba Linda Group 3 property. One well on the Towell lease No. 1 is being cleaned out and is in the oil sand at 3250. The General Petroleum is drilling on iron at Hugo No. 3 and it will be some little time before this well can be put on production. A month ago the G. P. had this well ready to bring in, when the 8-in. casing parted. On No. 1 struck the sand at 2900 and begins to look rather good. Walker No. 1 cleaning out at 3700 will soon be ready for production. Drilling on the United's Carpenter 2 is now at 3445 and the 6 1-4 is going in. E. J. Miley's No. 2 completed at 2706 feet has all the indications and ear marks of being a greater well than the famous No. 1 that did more for Huntington Beach than any other wel drilled in the field. Preparations are being made to bring in the big well and it should be flowing somewhere around 800 or a 1000 barrels tomorrow. The status of the Miley-Keck wells is as follows. No. 1 at 2590 is rigging up to go ahead with the rotary. No. 2 at 2950 feet is making only 2' barrels. No. 3 is a rig. No. 4 at 3494 continues to produce 26.5 gravity oil at the rate of 450 barrels daily. No. 5 is rigging up. No. 6 is to be redrilled. No. 7 failed to shut water at 3600 and was re-cemented. No. 8 stands ecemented at 2965 ten inch. O'Donnell No. 1 now at 3675 and drilling in the oil sand for more than 100 feet looks like a big well. It is the intention to drill on to 3720 and set the 6-inch perforated at that depth. Drilled by the Federal Drilling Co., this wel listens for a record in speed and careful work. Continued bailing and cleaning out for ten days has failed to put Pan-tages-Huntington No. 1 back on production. Just why this famous old well will not start producing again is a mystery. About everything has been done to make the well produce. Petitfills Syndicate No. 1 completed at 2715 has made several flush production runs that made it look like a real well, but the sand continues to come in such quantity now that the well is not able to make much of a showing. No.-set 1844 feet of 12½ and is standing. No. 3 at 2267 is fishing. The Petroleum Co. (Mosler Special) has abandoned fishing for lost drill pipe at Brown No. 1 and is rigging up to go in with cable tools and sidetrack pipe at 4030 feet. The Petroleum Midway added a 100 barrels to Huntington Beach production by getting Smythe No. 1 CONTROL KECK CO.
